PL - 5749 Dobrzany - hatched in 2020
MAURITANIA - Inchiri Region. The stork continued on its way south. It flew along the Atlantic coast. But on November 23 in the evening it decided to change direction and returned a little back north,
Its last night location is north of Nouakchott (Nouakchott is the capital and largest city of Mauritania. It is one of the largest cities in the Sahel. The city also serves as the administrative and economic center of Mauritania - wiki)

The stork seemed to be heading to Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary (about 300 km away), where there are two more Polish black storks (CNIG28 Turek, hatched in 2020, and CNIG14, hatched in 2019, which is already spending its second winter here).

:hi: Solo,
thanks for the news about our PURPLE
I'm glad the stork is moving. I am convinced that he is able to find enough food - fishermen return from the sea every day, fish is processed on the spot and there is also a fish market. The pictures also show a lot of garbage, maybe also from fish.
But I don't really like his stay so close to people and the airport.

people are maybe bigger danger as the airport area, there is no heavy traffic

thank you too for all news and especially for the photos about the areas where our storks spend the time and/or where travelling :2thumbsup:

VEDRU

What Climate Changes Means For Migratory Birds? The story of a Black stork in West Bekaa Ammiq

On 11 November 2020 SPNL got an Email from Eagle Club Estonia about a Black stork named Vedru that’s fitted with a transmitter
Vedru was born and tagged in Estonia, and entered Lebanon on 7 November 2020 and stayed in the area between Ammiq and Mansoura in West Bekaa.
....
After some detailed field investigation our field officer came to the conclusion that due to the abundance of fish (mostly Common carp) trapped in the low water pools, many wading birds are taking advantage of this bounty and staying around the area, including a flock of juvenile Black storks (Ciconia nigra) ...
Vedru left Lebanon on 17/11/2020 to continue its great migration south. We can only estimate that Vedru gained weight on its ten days of eating Lebanese Cuisine.

here more - all: https://www.spnl.org/what-climate-chang ... kaa-ammiq/
more very nice photos - black storks in wetland area :D :2thumbsup:

Vedru (I don't see with pleasure that they caught him - my opinion: it is stress for animal)

Hello Sova,
Thank you for your words.
"Rybołowy Online Puszcza Napiwodzko-Ramucka" - I did not find any public map where you can watch them (not even a link to it). One of the comments below this post - "Too bad the map doesn't work".
(I mean watching online)
