16:39:43 - 49 H21 calls, not excited.
She wanders through the tree with her gaze relaxed as if she were following another bird in motion. I

n the following time she will get up a few times, change position, loosen the nest floor and be tired ... :innocent:

18:37:48 - 53 H21 calls again

19:16 The youngest chick? :innocent:
Image

19:24 The chicks start to beep louder. One of them tugs at the springs of H21.

19:33:26 H44 comes into the nest from the left with the announcement and stops again at the edge of the nest.
H21 greets him, makes her drawn lute again. He tugs at the prey as if checking it out.

When H21 gets up and moves to H44, he leaves the nest almost in a hurry.
I noticed that he stopped calling when he left the nest. For a few day ... since the chicks hatched.

H21 now pulls in the food and starts feeding.
The youngest chick has the bad position behind its siblings and I am almost certain that it did not get anything with this feeding. But I also think that it is not urgent yet. The other two got very well. They are already starting to steal bites.
Image

19:40:38 Has H21 kicked her junior with the beak?
Image

In the end, she checks the chicks' beaks very carefully.
I don't know why she was so indecisive about the rest of the bird. At first I thought she wanted to get rid of him. Then again that she would like to eat herself. H21 picked it up, put it down ... turned back and forth with it.

19:45:01 Finally she flew out of the nest with the prey.
Image

19:47:18 H21 returns with the bird to the nest. She puts it down and covers the chicks.

19:51:58 H21 pulls the bird into the nest bowl. But otherwise does nothing with it.

20:31 - 47 The next feeding.
This time all the chicks got bites. Some of them shot out backwards while stuffing in front of their beak. 8-)

Image

20:37:51 The chick in the rear position gets a bite from H21, but it cannot swallow it. It tries to keep its head back ... the bite doesn't go down and doesn't get out. H21 notices it in 39:03 and pulls on it. However, the bite is not loosened. Only at 39:50 does the beak look free.

May 28th

:hi:

04:18:10 H44 comes to the nest chirping for the first visit of the day.
Soft tones wander between H44 and H21 and H21 stands up.

04:18:34 H44 has completed its morning mission and is leaving the nest.
H21 is still standing on the edge of the nest, loosing its feathers and stretching. The chicks beep all right.
Image

04:20:15 H21 leaves the nest.
04:21:39 - 46 it can be heard in the area.

With the same sounds she returns to the nest at 22:03 and covers the chicks again.

04:55:56 - 57:18 A thrush feels disturbed and alarmed.

05:33 While H21 keeps closing her eyes she is kept awake from below.
Image

05:56 - 06:04 Now it is a blackbird reporting danger.

06:55:29 H21 begins to watch down, then up.
Image

06:56:12 A crow (the reason?) ... it starts nagging, loud and unfriendly. Apparently right above the nest.
H44 jumps straight to the spot!
Image

The crow continues nagging and H21 starts to warn, but the crow is fearless in the face with two goshawks.

H44 jumps onto the side branch and watches the sky. Meanwhile another crow can be heard, both of them rattle.
H44 leaves the side branch and the anger of the second crow can be heard.

06:58:05 H21 leaves the nest downstairs. The chicks are alone now ... and the crows are still close.
06:58:58 - 59:01 H21 calls ... followed by calls from the crows.

...

06:59:35 H21 returns to the nest, shouting loudly.
The food she brings seems to be yesterday's bird. He looks a bit worn out ...
Image

She begins to pluck the prey and feed her chicks. H21 feeds very carefully.
I got the impression that the middle chick (on the right in the row) wasn't eating so vigorously. Maybe just a wrong impression of me.
Image

Overall good feeding for all the chicks and there was music from the crows in the background.

07:12 All chicks are collected again under H21.

08:10:50 H 21 is dedicated to the rest of the food.
She takes a wing that is lying in the nest bowl and puts it on the other side of the nest. Then she begins to prepare bites.
The chicks need a bit of a run-up to notice that they are being served food. They prefer to play.
Then they sit like organ pipes and let themselves be fed.
Image
(maxi, midi, mini - left to right)

Mini again has the worst cards although he defends his position very well in the series.
In the end there are actually only feathers left - and there are still 3 begging beaks open. But all harvests are looking good.

08:16:27 H21 clamps the wing between the chicks. It looks a bit rough. Like two days ago when she put the prey on the chicks and moved carelessly.

08:29 H21 picks up the wing, jumps with it onto the side branch and immediately back into the nest. She drops it there again. This wing becomes a prop.

Seagulls howl ....

09:35:24 Much to the excitement of H21, H44 brings a large piece of food.
Image

It's really huge. H44 didn't make it easy for itself. Even H21 can hardly reach around.
He looks at H21 expectantly. However, she calls out loud and her meow sounds particularly energetic.
Image

Image

From the nest bowl further tender demands sound out ...

09:36:20 H44 leaves the noisy place.

H21 tugs cautiously at the well-prepared prey, but then covers the chicks again for the time being.

10:27 The first guests to eat are buzzing around the meat and humming.

H21 is already being pushed ... :innocent:

Chicken feed of the day

There have been six feeding periods distributed with durations between 6´ and 21´47 "

The separation between these periods has been variable, with two of them long and the rest between one and two hours.

There has also been a contribution of three dams for H44 and another that seemed to be the rest of the previous day with which the first two baits were made.
Some prey has not been touched and at the moment it seems that they are left over with food.

The female eats them before the chickens, surely the hardest and most difficult parts for chickens at this age.

I also notice that the vocalizations when the female or the male leaves the nest have been reduced a lot.

On the other hand, it has been observed for a long time that there is no loose white down in the nest.

1st 7:00 -7:11 (11´)
2nd 8:11 - 8:17 (6´)
3rd 12:47:53 - 13:09:40 (21'47 ")
4th 14:32:14 - 14:43:17 (11´03 ")
5th 17:59:27 - 18:11:46 (12'19 ")
6th 20:06:13 - 20:16:01 (9´48 ")

Good night and see you tomorrow.

Yes Emiliano, our H's are becoming more discreet.

I still collected a lot in the evening. I wasn't sure if anyone was following the day. Thank you very much for your watching! :2thumbsup: I continue now ...

May 28th ...

12:45:05 H21 leaves the nest.
Image

The chicks are left alone.

12:45:50 H44 takes over.
He stands ... looks at his chicks and watches over his offspring without any activity or approach.
Image

12:46:57 H21 returns.
It remains unclear to us what she 'says' to him, but H21 has a lot to say. I think it mainly steers him out of the nest. :whistling:
Image

12:47:03 H44 leaves the nest ... the chicks beep.
H21 pulls in the feed and starts feeding the chicks.
12: 47: 44/55 H21 calls again.

H21 feeds 12:48 - 13:09
All chicks make the heart beat faster. :innocent: They are seated well, they are lively, their heads are firm, and their posture is secure.

13:02 Organ pipes :2thumbsup:
Image

Nice feeding for twenty minutes. H21 feels good and is attentive. The Mini-H's ate great from mini to maxi.

Pure enjoyment ... :innocent:

Actually, H21 just gets up ... nothing unusual but I love these moments - just enjoying these birds in their movements.
H21 allows these moments.

H21 pulls in the food and starts feeding.
I found one moment impressive ... It was again the situation that mini was sitting on the far right and this position is simply unfavorable. His siblings' beaks are simply quicker to bite.
Mini is clever - he pulls past his siblings from behind. :D
Now he is sitting in the middle ... still at the back but he is quick in his movements. His head rushes through the front between maxi and midi. The tactic works great and mini gets its bite.

18:12 H21 straighten some branches and cover the chicks.

20:04:30 H44 brings more food.
H21 thanks and shows him off?

Different this time ... :innocent:

H44 is allowed to be present while the chicks are being fed.
It touches me. :innocent:

20:08:08 He's leaving the nest.

Feeding until 20:16.
The chicks had only moderate appetite.
20:16 H21 covers.
