Unfortunately, the presence of the strange Osprey yesterday was a challenge for Teo and Vita for quite a while longer. Both had to fly out again several times to defend the nest. The eggs were alone and uncovered for about 40 minutes but luckily warmed by the sun.

15.45 just when Vita returned from one of the defending flights, she stretched her neck and called alarm again
- look at those very empty crops on both -
Image

Teo got up and like a rocket he took off after the stranger
Image

16.07 Vita again called alert and had to take off as fast as Teo, who didn't return yet.
16.10 Vita back in nest

16.46 all 3 eggs in a line, look at Vita's very empty crop, she is attentive, watchful and "on guard"

Teo couldn't bring the first headless fish in the afternoon until around 17.00.
The fish didn't fill their very empty crops well enough. Vita flew off with it and returned soon.

17.08 Vita is chittering happily and hurries up to grab the fish, she must be very hungry - "thank you, dear Teo"
Image

Teo's crop is filled a little with the fishhead :innocent: - Vita gets hers filled now, too
both look around, if the stranger is still in the area
Image

Vita flies away with the headless fish to eat it outside the nest

19.00 Teo brought another headless fish, a big one.
He himself already had a big crop and Vita flew away with her part and enjoyed it.
She only came back around 21.00 and released Teo from incubation.

19.09 wow, Teo, what a beautiful and big headless fish for Vita
Image

Vita is delighted - "give it to me, give it to me"
look at the now nicely round crop on Teo :innocent:
Image

and off she goes with her beautiful fish :headroll:

19.54 it was raining slightly, Teo on the eggs and a cuckoo is singing
Image

20.26 it stopped raining, Teo up and digs a bit around the nest bowl
Image

21.00 he is still incubating, patiently waiting for Vita
as the last rays of the evening sun fall on the nest and the surroundings :innocent:

21.11 Vita is back - she took her time and clearly enjoyed her fish :D
nice big crop on her
change of incubation duty - Teo is released and can now fly to his sleeping branch
Image

Vita rolled the eggs, wiggled in, but was still very restless and seemed nervous. Maybe the stranger osprey was still somewhere around.

21.28 she called alert and suddenly flew off
Image

21.31 Vita returned, rolled the eggs again and settled in for a hopefully quiet night, still tense until it got dark

May 23rd

It remains uneasy for Teo and Vita.
04:30:52 Vita leaves the nest (she began to realize in '46) and almost at the same time the young goshawk slipped onto the nest edge.

Slomo

Well, he seemed both startled and curious. He is still shy ...
I think he bowed around the nest. It wasn't coming straight from the side. Or so it seemed to me when I looked at Vita's reaction from '46 when she noticed him.

 Polly, Thank you for the reports. I don’t know what to say other than that the Goshawk, gives me much fear. I’m sure that I am not alone with this fear. :vangry:

Sure it's not you Cessie. Note that a Goshawk isn't the only danger ... this one didn't seem very prey to me. He seemed almost startled.
Don't give up first. :innocent:

Polly, you are correct, we need to have faith and positive thoughts. The Goshawk, might be just passing through the area, and hopefully the goshawk, understands that this territory is taken.
Teo, deserves a successful season, with fledged offspring.

balistar, Cessie ...

Thank you for staying with Teo and Vita. Please continue. :innocent:
There was also a moment today at 14:48... when Vita storms out of the nest.
Image

I've seen her do this many times. But Teo is often on the approach. :puzzled: Well, two possibilities - he comes because he also sees the danger or Vita is frightened of Teo. Because usually no other bird can be seen.
I have to think of Juuli in minutes like this. The only surviving chick in Marko and Miina's nest. How she fearlessly chased the Goshawk as soon as she was fully fledged.

Let's go against the statistics - Teo and Vita should finally have a successful season.

June 1st
 Hellem, Balistar, and Polly!
And hello to all of the other Osprey Fans!

4:26am Teo, brought a headless fish to the nest, for Vita, and the precious chick.
Such an early fish delivery makes me adore our Teo, so much. He puts his heart and soul into his family. His instincts were always this impressive, or he has newly developed instincts. Teo, covers his chick, and eggs, like a pro mama Osprey. No hesitations.

Balistar, thank you so much for all of your story posts, and the pictures of the events!! :loveshower:

Polly, actually there is one other, sometimes flying around, which is the cause of Vita's concern and storming out. Teo sometimes comes to clear the area, when he isn't far away for the hunt. I've seen a third osprey yesterday, when i was watching and taking pictures of the first born, Teo flew out chasing the stranger. Unfortunately i had no more time to report and take pictures

Dear Cessie, you're welcome.
You said it well, Teo is such an outstanding osprey, a devoted father, i admire him so much. But also Vita impresses me again.

Honestly i'd like to contribute more, i'm so sorry i just don't have enough time. My garden waits to be looked after and my health requires some investigation
