12:44 Kaia feeds the storklets. It was a nice load of fish, I think

I wonder when Kaia arrived. 12.33 when there's some rustling and a storklet begins croaking?
Or was it her flying by at 12.26 after all?

An even more interesting question is: why on earth would a stranger stork enter a crowded nest?

The 'visitor' arrives from the right
Image

He lands on the nest ... No rings.
I agree with Swenja, it looks like a male bird.
Image

... but he immediately moves to a lower branch, next to the nest.

13:03 Kaia leaves the nest

Unfortunately, I have to leave now too.

Many thanks to everyone. You didn't know where to look and listen first. So much has happened!

Thank you for the very nice pictures @ Anne7 :2thumbsup:

Such meetings can also be dangerous. I hope the strangers don't come back.

Anne,
12:42 Another black stork was already on the nest tree. Above the nest. He was singing- a male!. I know this singing from other visits :D
I think it was a couple. The femaIe? landed on the lower branch. I think it was a female due to Kaja's behavior.

Are you amazed that Kaia is lying next to them?
the little ones are too big to cover them. So she lies down next to them! I saw that on Zile's nest. There were constantly unwelcome visitors for 2 years in a row. She too lay down next to the storklets when they were too big. But she preferred to stuff them under herself

It was rather a black stork. Nodding by the storklets means another stork

It could be the same stork Karl II chased away soon after he returned(Karl III).

20:38:28 Kaia is here :loveshower:

Image

 It's like a siege today!

Kaia looks around the nest and discovers a strange black stork. Kaia greeted. But then the situation changes. She sees the second stork and turns into a defensive stance.

Image

20:40:08 That could have been the second stork. He's just flying in.

Kaia looks in 2 directions.

This is dangerous now!

Image

Now she only looks to the left in one direction.

21:01 feeding time! I only see # 2's dirty bum.
Today # 3 stopped doing ps while sitting, but # 2 started doing it. :slap:

20:55 Kaia is still guarding her storklets.
She looks worried (or vigilant) and quite stressed. Raises her feathers. Meanwhile her chicks continue to beg for food.

20:47:28 Go away, intruder(s)!
Image

21:01 Kaia finally starts to feed.
Image

I see fish. :D

What a day! :slap:
