Wolsztyn. Podnośnik do obrączkowania bocianów czarnych! / Wolsztyn. Hoist for ringing black storks

https://youtu.be/Lkt3LX6EfdU

For the first time in Poland, the Eagle Conservation Committee together with the Wolsztyn Forest District on June 30, 2021. he used a specialized hoist to ring black storks. Ascending a tree using arboricultural methods involved an assessment. A cloudy day with rainfall was chosen to take the young out of the nest in the absence of adult birds, then measure them on the ground and ring them. The birds received small aluminum rings from the Ornithological Station in Gdańsk and larger, white identification rings with the numbers 16J6 and 17J6. The young were also equipped with brown gps-gsm transmitters as part of the project of the Forest Experimental Station of the SGGW in Rogów "BocianiMy in Lasach". The chicks around 30 days old were in good shape and weighed 2270g and 2350g. The female also has a transmitter. Thanks to this, we are going to find out whether the young will go to Africa alone or together with the five-year-old female Skierka, who comes from the Skierniewice Forest District.
Adult birds with food appeared after a few hours, when the rain had stopped.

Skierka's arrival in the nest after 49 hours! https://youtu.be/wnV-TNIc9OI by KOO

"Skierka" the female of the black stork flew away from the nest on June 29 at 2:55 pm, and returned with food on July 1 at 4:28 pm. She has not been in a nest with chicks in over 49 hours! At that time, she was feeding and sleeping 73 km on the Odra river.

:hi: to everybody!

Estonian storks usually returned earlier (within a few hours), but maybe it is because Skierka is not accustomed to visitors in her nest yet.

:hi: Asteria,
please read the text again - the absence of Skierka has nothing to do with ringing

Is it known for sure that she was far away from the nest during ringing and haven't seen the ringers?

Will Skierka come back to the nest with the young?
Young, inexperienced female Skierka appears less and less with food at the nest and makes very long escapades. Hopefully, her instinct will tell her to come back, and she'll come back tomorrow and feed her young, which only the male has been taking care of for the last two days. On Saturday, July 3, the female spent 95 km WE from the nest in the vicinity of Środa Wielkopolska, and on Sunday (July 4) in a well-known place, i.e. 73 km SE on the Oder river. We are looking forward to...
