Petolintulive today with -20°C
4th winter Golden Eagle has been here in the middle of the day for some days, ringed 2018 with right:blank, left:red
This one has temper and often attacks annoying magpies, really fun
right side:

This golden eagle is at least allowed to eat in a community. The magpies are really bold ... they even pull his tail feathers and he tolerates it. Only sometimes does he swing his wings when they get too annoying.
I'd rather catch one than eat frosty food.
The new attitude is great!
Unfortunately I can only watch sporadically at the moment.

Petolintulive
December 31st
Cat and mouse between Goshawk and GE continues.
Video from Luontolive:
Well, I wonder why only these two of their kind can be seen here. There has also been a juvenile goshawk. So they are probably more represented there. But GE is just that one.

Even today the Goshawk is left behind. Only the magpies are allowed to sit at the table.
(Splendid harvest)
Everyone is always vigilant ... look and suddenly the GE raises its head feathers. The magpies leave the place.

Brave ....
But he has no chance. For a moment he sits at a distance while the magpies return.
Then he gives up.

Wow, thanks Polly
Luontolive saved the drama and it's actually two eagles, 4th winter "Kolme" attacking and chasing away an old one:

Sigge, thanks for keeping an eye on me! Yes, two eagles ... great!
I was too distracted and unable to concentrate and somehow wound up the crucial moment. (although the drawing of the wings also seemed like an eagle to me) I have no idea ... the second GE cannot be overlooked.
Edit:
Link removed. Sigge has already set the situation via a link. Thank you!
Today the start of the new year is very comfortable.
I've seen a few moments of the magpies in slow motion. Sweet how they move ... bounce, jump. The snow they throw up glitters great. And to dream especially beautifully in this wonderful light.

Back to Denmark ...
Yesterday, January 3rd
The hidden object with finches, blackbirds, sparrows and chaffinches emptied. But there is always one last person who is confused and wondering why all the buddies fly away.
A young buzzard lands on the tree. Its flight is leisurely ... its claws empty. No hunting maneuver.
You can often hear them there, but at least I have never seen one of them on this site before.

He's very relaxed ... or a female?
Later you can think that the legs are very long. But I abstain - I'm glad I recognized this bird as a buzzard.
It flutters to the ground, and magpies keep an eye on it. They sit in trees and one of them even joins him on the ground. As in Sweden, these birds are not at all shy.
The buzzard flutters and jumps through the area, eager to discover. Moves things up from the floor, stands ... kneads. I remembered the juveniles in the Goshawk nest. They played with prey in a similar way.
Only once does he lift something black with his beak, which I couldn't identify. Even if his movement looked like he had something in his claws - they were empty. It was exciting.

I'm jumping to Denmark ...
Morten Hilmer commented today on the fox who is sick with mange.
Well, only yesterday I took screenshots - we have two foxes on patrol without direct contact. However, the second fox still looks healthy.
Hm, the hot time begins. If a female fox is close to fertility (only 2 - 3 days) it is often followed by male admirers for days. They don't want to miss the moment.
Morten Hilmer regrets this step but this fox will now be released for shooting. Let's not forget - this disease is highly contagious and dangerous for all (mammals) animals and feeding places are a source of disease. My English is bad but if you're still interested today - Morten starts at 17:56 with his explanation.

Very well! Yes @Liz, nice that you present the camera.
It absolutely has to be "on the way".
I have never (rarely) documented but enjoyed looking into the nest every day. Already last year I found it regrettable that the interest in these territorially rare birds is so low.
The settings were already changed last year. The perspective of the viewing angle is larger.
I liked it better the other way but the camera works great!

Another winter feeder: Nuuksio NW of Helsinki near a big national park.
The cam is open clock around and has panning and zooming.
The visitor list includes owls, hawks, otter, racoon dog, mountain hare, white-tailed deer and lynx(!)
01:42 White-tailed deer I guess (never seen one before):
There is a little stream in the foreground and maybe an otter was heard at daybreak this morning.
Some small dead fish there and magpies fishing:

@sigge, nice to read you.
Personally, I've already 'walked' over this camera. Somehow in search of Cams Goshawk... .
The first thing I saw was this video.
(Please don't see if you're sensitive!!!!)
These feeding sites always attract predators sooner or later.
I think it's natural and nothing can change it.
But if you are prepared for biodiversity and related activities - yes, a nice camera.
Magpies always surprise me.
In the Danish stream they nibbled snails - here fish.
I think we know too little about magpies. We underestimate them and pay too little attention to them.
Ps: The sick fox in Denmark is relieved .... it always hurts me. I have yet to find out if he was shot - I think so. :/
