Ivo (ED) hatched and was ringed in 2013 by Joosep Tuvi, in a nest 50 km NNE in Jõgeva county

Iiris has no rings and so one can´t say something definite about her

- - -

Nest is located in South Estonia, Tartumaa, not far from a fish farm. Natural river and ponds are in vicinity, too.

Ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) reach body heights of 50-66 cm, and wingspans of 1,27 - 1,74 m. Females are bigger than males.

- Winglength ♂ 448 bis 495 mm ♀ 470 bis 518 mm
- Weight ♂ 1,12 bis 1,74 kg ♀ 1,21 bis 2,05 kg

Usually two or three eggs are laid and incubated 36-41 days.
Young Ospreys fledge after 50-54 days.

Hello Osprey fans :hi:

We are at the start of the new season and I want to try something new, a kind of addition to the first and/or second page.

I will document the Main Events 2022 as usual and like in previous years, but I´d like to offer you observers to reserve a post on the first or second page (just like you can get it when the cams start) to give you the possibility to document more and additional behaviours/events or things like that, which are not directly "Main Events", but remarkable though.

Maybe you observe an unexpected, sudden and not explainable behaviour, we had something like this some years ago, when two female osprets began to show some strong aggression to the female or when the female at the Latvian nest began to cast pellets repeatedly and more than it can be expected - just as two examples about what I am thinking about.

Such events are interesting, but often "sink" among all other posts, but when we can have a link to them on the first page/s, we can find them back easily.

The maximum amount for links in one post is limited to 20 (I hope I remember this right) and you can edit your post at any time, we have no time limit for editing own posts here in LK.

I hope that I could explain my intention good and understandable enough, if not - please let me know and I hope that some of you are interested to participate in this "experiment".

Let´s hope that our osprey cams will start soon!

Thanks in advance!

Good morning everyone, our Ivo is back and already is with a girlfriend.
The lady is without a ring, it takes time to find out if Iiris is or not.

Dear osprey lovers, help identify Iiris.
On the first photo is our Iiris.
On the second today's lady. Based on the pattern of strokes around the eye and spots on the pupil of the eye, I think that this is not Iiris.

The same is in the figure under the wings. In the first photo is Iiris, with her characteristic pattern.
The second photo is today's lady. We see that the drawings are different.

upd
this photo has a different drawing and it is possible that last year there was a different bird on the nest.
Friends, help me, it's hard for me alone

But the lady at 6:55 looks a lot like Iiris. Compare. Two spots on the pupil at 16 o'clock.

BUT
if you compare these two photos, then you will agree with me that this is one and the same bird.
I don’t draw any conclusions yet, but the fact that Iiris was on the nest today, I’m starting to seriously think about it

Thank you, seira
let's keep an eye on this bird to see it from all sides. I also think it's Iris.

And here is the first fish today.
