Yes Liz today is the warmest day in her life. About 23 degrees celsius, directly in the sun a lot more.

Urmas wrote: May 23rd, 2022, 10:01 am Thanks for nice and polite comments! Though I can stand also others, if will be...
Ringing could have been much quicker, but unexpected freezing of YT stream made corrections in actions (calling, searching the stream in smartphone, hesitating, etc). Fortunately, adults did not appear near nest site that hour.
Holes drilled in to lens housing, those are small ones, 2mm in diameter. So no quick get rid of water inside the housing could happen, think few days is needed to get moisture out of housing. Front glass is one of coolest place in lens housing (looking NW). Mostly the sun is shining from back, heats other housing and water vapour condensates on coolest place. About ten drops of water departed housing after drilling, but only after second hole was opened.

Correct ring code for right leg ring is SB260, green ring color indicates origin of Estonia; left leg ring (red over green 401N) indicates hatching year 2022.

I have a suggestion for name to Golden Eagle chick SB260 - Margit
Can't say now if SB260 is she, but suppose there is more than 50% probability for that.
You did good work, Urmas. The ringing went smoothly, parents returned soon after, later hunting was successful. All went well. Thank you for the details, ring code correction, and naming. Let's see...

"Estonian. Etymology. From Swedish and Hungarian Margit... Hungarian. Margit. 1. A female given name. Cognate to Margaret. Swedish. Etymology. From Latin Margarita, from Ancient Greek μαργαρίτης (margarítēs, “pearl”). First recorded in Sweden around 1100. Cognate with English Margaret. English. Etymology. From the name of a legendary third century saint, from Middle English Margaret, from Old French Margaret (French Marguerite), from Latin Margarita, from Ancient Greek μαργαρίτης (margarítēs, “pearl”), ultimately from an Indo-Iranian source. The same source, through folk etymology, has produced Old English meregrot (“pearl”, literally “stone or pebble of the sea”), related to Old Saxon merigrita, merigriota (“pearl”), Old High German merigrioz, equivalent to mer- +‎ groat."

Ah, Urmas has discovered a precious pearl in the heart of the great clam that is Soomaa. Yes, there she was, that nacreous glimmer through the fog of the lens. Round and plump, heh. One day her coverts will hide the pearl within, but we will remember. ;>

Two feeding sessions today. Where Helju fed Margit, rather than Margit simply attempting to self-feed.

The morning session around 7:42.
And, when Helju brought new prey - 18:20:40, a feeding followed - 18:22:04.

Here is the best screenshot I could manage of that shredded curiosity. Interesting red bits at the dangling end. Normally one might suspect torn flesh, but it seemed to have a different quality to it. Really difficult to determine.
