no-one has visited the nest during the evening (at least no-one big enough to make marks on the nest. i have also had awful lot of breaks in the stream tonight after 18:11 so i may have missed something).
23:16 our lodger came in. :D

May 24

good morning!

2:47 - 48 rustling maybe? :puzzled:
if our lodger left here then it's no wonder that i have not found the sound in the past mornings. first of all i have looked for the sound this early and secondly there has been more noise than this morning.

3:13 - 6:32 i didn't find anything special. no-one called (except a crow and the usual birds sang) and no-one visited the nest.

the Sisters, Cousins and the Observation Oaks have started to get some reddish colour. they are becoming in-transparent: leaves are breaking in them, too.
- i realized some time ago that i have written about Observation Oak 2 in a somewhat inaccurate way. there are two big trees where the eagles sometimes sit on the other side of the meadow, opposite the camera. the one on the left is Observation Oak 2. the tree on the right looks smaller but this is probably because it's perhaps at a longer distance. that's Observation Oak 3. on May 10 one of the eagles (Milda?) sat in this tree for 1 h 15 min (after sitting on the top for about 40 min)

7:31:58 a little grey bird visited. the bird looked so simple and plain that i think it had to be a female. she had no special markings, no stripes or anything (so she wasn't a pied flycatcher!)
only one speciality: the legs were pale pink.

by the way: behind the Sisters there is one big Cousin with full green leaves already!

in this lights the Sisters in front of this tree are almost transparent.

11:39 - 11:40 mega2 spotted an eagle.
11:38:59 a very soft landing on the top. the tip of one of the top branches swung down.
11:40:46 an eagle flew away from the top and dropped some garbage down.
the eagle flew to the direction of Fish Market 2 on the right.

18:14 mega2 wrote in YT chat: "18:12 Milda ar Voldi sasaucās tālumā"
= "18:12 Milda and Voldis called in the distance".

thank you mega2!

19:34:15 calls from very far?? yes! more calls.
19:35:30 even more.
- and my stream froze! :bash:
they were really very far. i would not have been able to find the calls if i hadn't heard them live quite by accident.

edit:
mega2 writes in DDF: "in the evening the eagles called quite a lot, but very far away and it was hard to hear, so I didn't fix it in time ..."
i looked for more calls and i found some at 19:15, 19:18 - 19:19

then more at 19:27 - 19:28 and then at 19:34 - 19:35.

the calls sounded a bit worrying... :puzzled:
what i heard could have been argument with a stranger...

21:07:50 voices of people??
21:09 more? :puzzled:

21:15:30 more voices.

i wonder what that was about. a man's voice or rather men's voices. one man would probably not shout alone so loud. :whistling:

8:39 a coal tit visited and sang on the right side of the nest.

9:08 a wagtail! Motacilla alba. :headroll:

the white wagtail is the national bird of Latvia. Vērotāja added (in the YT chat) that Motacilla alba is the symbol of the Latvian Society of Ornithology.

i have waited for years to see a wagtail at an eagle's nest. they often build their nests inside the nests of big birds of prey, for example in ospreys' nests.

12:24:29 Voldis flew to the top and called. Milda replied nearby. Voldis called again.
12:25:12 Voldis flew away from the top.
i didn't notice this first although he didn't leave in secrecy. :slap:
