Thanks for the group photo!
from left to right #1 #2 #3
Image

Baby feathers fall out.

Image

#2 is already well on its way.

Image

Although #1 is a few hours older than #2, #2 is a little more confident in standing and walking. #2 also sometimes appears larger.
So far it has been seen that #1 is a very good eater from the start. Often #1 lay full and calm and could not be disturbed at all.

#2 is more nervous and already had the problem of getting in his own way while eating and always stretched his neck.
#2 likes to exercise and keeps asking for food. Even when #2 ate, there was seldom rest.

#1 and #2 still differ in temperament. But #1 is more watchful and has a wonderful growl. #2 can also growl, but it works faster with #1.
And when growling #1 is also really big.

I'm curious how much the chicks weigh when they're banding.

The chicks are hungry or thirsty. Karl II flies away.

I can't see any feeding other than early morning.

Many thanks @Anne7 for the track data.
Now the chicks probably don't need the frequent feedings less than 4 hours apart. It will adjust to 4 feedings a day.
Kaia can supplement the menu with her share. But, as we saw last year, she won't bring that much fodder.
Collecting animals from the modder is probably a lot more time consuming.

Thank you @Tatiana60 for the important tip!
You're right. We can try to figure out the base of the beak.
And if the baby's feathers fall out now, we can also pay attention to these differences. We do that!

Karl II brings mostly small fish with him. Apparently other things too. But I only see fish.

Hello :hi:

Thank you Swenja and Tatiana!

That was a good feeding! :2thumbsup:

The chicks eat very fast, as if they were vacuum cleaners. :D
They also (try to) grab the food right out of Karl II's beak.
It will now become more and more difficult to see what and how much a parent has regurgitated.

Some food is already grabbed straight from the beak.

Several small fish are devoured simultaneously

The chicks wait for a parent to come home.
I think they could use some refreshment and/or food.

#3 is exercising. Still a bit wobbly, but not bad at all! :D

Hello Sova :hi:

Yes. I think #3 is a Little Kaia. A bit coquettish.

16:32 Kaia pulls on the head of #3

Image

Image

Image

There are at least 2 ways chicks raise their heads. One type is the clatter of the beak. edit: The first head lift is without a rattle. The second head lift too. But already the third head lift is with rattling.
That's what #3 does.
#3 actually makes the clatter whenever it lifts its head. Raising your head with a rattle seems like a very ugly gesture.

#3 made 6 head lifts.
#1 and #2 made 0 head lifts.
