Andris brings a frog, Rota swallows it. He was followed by an jay! The jay bothered them for half an hour. Special event! Andris preened his Rota. I've never seen that in a male. This Andris is a very special male. I've already seen him try to feed Rota and now he's preening today!

Anna's eye: I've seen this type of injury in eagles as well. The "third eyelid" protects the eye. That's why we're seeing it now

In the YT-chat, Zoja Aleksandrovica (

) pointed to an interesting aspect, which could serve as an explanation for the jay attacks: " Tas uzbrukums Annai bija tāpēc, ka sīļu mazulis tika nolaupīts un apēsts? Vai cits iemesls?" GT:"Was the attack on Anna because the baby was abducted and eaten? Is there another reason?" On June 26, two young birds were brought as prey. For me it is hard to see whether these were jay chicks - but it is not unlikely.

If so, it could explain the ongoing attacks against the adult eagles, in order to prevent them from 'stealing' another of their chicks.

That may be, but I did not see any of the characteristic blue feathers on the two young birds.
