Hello! :hi:

This morning Kaia's transmitter sent data. :2thumbsup:

KAIA

YESTERDAY's locations (until this morning):

Kaia is still in Belarus.
She flew a little north and is currently west of Konchitsy and east of Potapovichi.
Končycy is a village in Pinsk District, Brest Region, Belarus and has about 535 residents.
Patapavičy is another village and has about 348 residents.

UDU

Battery level is still 0%

Since his/her arrival in northern Italy, UDU sent only 5 location points.
All 5 are night location points. (06/07 - 09/10 - 12/13 - 13/14 - 15/16 August 2022)
They are all located within the below map.

Image

It looks like Udu is finding enough food in the surrounding paddies (rice fields) and good (night) shelter in the forested zones, otherwise s/he would probably move on.

San Giacomo del Bosco is a hamlet in Piedmont and has about 190 residents.
Rovasenda is a village in Piedmont and has about 1,010 residents.

KAIA

This early morning Kaia was still in the same fields between Luninets and the Pripyat River.
I didn't make a new tracker map for it.

"The Pripyatsky National Park is a protected area of swamp & oak forest, noted for wading birds, rare lynx and a herd of European bison.

Pripyatsky National Park or Pripyat National Park in a natural reserve in Gomel Region, Belarus. It was founded in 1996 for preservation of natural landscapes around the Pripyat River from which it takes its name. Much of the park's area is occupied by turf swamps.

Good evening everyone. :hi:

Francesca
I agree, the Pripyat area looks great for BS.

KAIA

Kaia sent data.
She flew a little further east today and has been looking for food in a fishfarm in Lakhva, maybe called Rybkhoz "Lakhva" Oao " Pinskvodstroy".
Currently she is on a lake called "Ozero Kukutelka" (Lake Kukutelka)

Lakhva is located in the Luninets district of Brest Region, approximately 80 kilometres to the east of Pinsk and 200 kilometres south of Minsk. It lies on the Smierc River, to the north of the Pripet Marshes.
The town is located within Polesia, a marshy region that has historically been at the confluence of various empires and states. As such, Lakhva has, at various points in its history, been under Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Soviet, German, and Belarusian control.

KAIA

In the early morning Kaia was still in the same area, near Lake Kukutelka in Lakhva, Luninets district of Brest Region in Belarus.

Kaia is 30 km away from Timmu's area. She could be there in one hour flight. :D
We will see tonight where Kaia flew to today

Kaia is in drained fields/peatlands near the villages Novoselki and Veluta, in the Luninets district of Brest Region in Belarus.
Nearby is the Veluta Lake. There are fen mires west and southwest of the lake.

UDU

Udu is still in the same area, between San Giacomo del Bosco and Rovasenda in Piedmont, Italy

S/he spent the night of 19 to 20 August in this "forest" (only 1 location point was sent).

Image

Somewhere in the distance:

Edit:
On this alternate map one can see the brooks and streams in Udu's area between San Giacomo del Bosco and Rovasenda.
It is a pity that Udu's battery is still empty and that we only receive a few night locations every now and then. It would be interesting to see where Udu looks for food and how far s/he flies.

Anne
Thank you for doing the maps :2thumbsup:

Udu chose a good spot

not far from a friend of mine's winery, an organic/biodynamic winery

although the banks of the Po have dried up. This year, the Po is carrying less water than ever before,
and the Po delta is turning into a desert.

Hello Balistar!

Your friend is very fortunate! And so are you. :D
I like Italy very much! It has everything to please: beautiful historical towns and villages, wonderful nature, a nice climate, cosy people and a great cuisine.
Unfortunately Italy is now suffering, as well as large parts of Europe, from this terrible drought.

I hope that Udu finds enough food.

Today Kaia flew a big loop, and is back in the fields near Veluta where she departed.

In fact, she first flew a big loop in the wide area (marked with red arrows) and then a small one (the green arrows).
