'38 closer now

'51 mating

15:57/58 Hoo, hop...H44 stumbles back into the nest. Small Goshawk - large branches.
Under instructions from a distance, he begins to push branches.

He'll be out soon.

(By the way, the video is real time.
H44 moves like it's double speed. )

16:00 A bullfinch can be heard close by.

March 26th

Good morning! :hi:

First visitors greet the nest in the morning...
08:10 A crow flies into the tree, followed by a second bird. But remains invisible.
Image

The Jay doesn't like the visit - he croaks. Possibly the Chaser?

08:12 The H's don't mind all this yet - they mate at a slight distance ... :whistling:

...

The park is filled with birdsong and the occasional kra kra kra ... :innocent:

08:23 mating #2

08:30 Flutterbird H44 brings a branch.

(Yes... a year ago the first egg was laid here in 2022.)

08:34 H21 calls
'35 close, in the tree?

Her call trails a slight nagging of a crow.

09:57 - 10:02 Then several neighbors meet and the voices confuse me a bit. Jay begins, sound of landing in tree.
We hear Goshawk's voices from different positions, sometimes close and sometimes clearly H21, sometimes from other positions. I'm wondering if H21 is communicating with Jay, H44 (the voice doesn't suit me) or a third Goshawk (which could also be Jay's imitation)?

09:58:20 Poop from above, movements

Later, H21 calls again melodic and H44 doubtless with 'Gjak'.

10:02:50 Departure noise in the tree

Who is who?

12:21 Call from H21

Who can help? :help:

Approximately 12:41 - 43
call of a bird, which sounds similar to a grasshopper.
I only found this one -> Feldschwirl/Locustella naevia.
A long-distance migrant. I have never heard of this bird. Are there deposits in this area?

13:12 mating #3

H21 can now be heard close up.
'18 again

'19/20/21 both

14:10 The heavy rain has subsided and the couple flap out of their hiding places.(They seemed to be sitting in side branches)

Mating #4 and H21 is excited again. :innocent:

'13 More chirping

14:29 H21 is still here. She calls, seems to be alone.

It is a good sign that she stays close to the nest.
Almost certainly not today but very soon she will start laying eggs.
I have not yet seen any of the pair digging in the nest bowl. Well, a real nest bowl is not recognizable either.

H21 isn't really moving far from the nest tree today.
More shouts
15:15, 17

'43, '46, '49 (egg timer set to 3 minutes :whistling: )

Then the floodgates over Riga will be opened and a heavy downpour will come down.
Image

Thunderstorm tendency was predicted ... well, somehow it happens that way.

As before, the rain stops and H21 can be heard again: 15:59 close

16:02 H21 and passing birds I cannot name.

16:03 What a noise level...Mating #6 and the migrating birds.

Everything is repeated, I checked. :book:
2022:
March 21: - H21 was only briefly in the nest
22nd - 24th: No visits but calls/matings.
25th: In the afternoon after abstinence (briefly), She was a bit reserved.
26th: Egg Day 8-)

18:35/36 Strange sounds? Almost pathetically.
It ends up imitating one of Jay's goshawks, though.

13:07 H21 still nearby with clear slightly melodic sounds.
'08 again
14:05 H44 heard first and closer with 'Gjak' ...H21 answers from a different position.
***
18:10 Landing sound in the tree. We hear rustling and crackling and it's crumbling from above.
A few moments later a crow jumps into the tree... short wave of nagging, rustling (take off?) and it was quiet again.

A very mild day today with the H's...
I'm still hoping for an egg tomorrow - or that's exactly why.

See you, sleep well!

March 27th

Hello Polly and everyone. :hi:

There have been no sounds at dawn today.

At night, when she put the camera on, she believed that the first egg had already been laid, it was the presentation with the image of last year that is with an egg in the nest.

Regards and wait. :2thumbsup:
