That's as it should be. Kaia has only sent single data points on the days she sent any data at all, those are not shown in the Birdmap. The four black storks you see are the only ones so far that have sent complete data this spring.

Hi Jo, Bea and all others :hi:,

those are good news! :headroll:

Theoretically, if Karl II keeps up this pace and doesn't make a detour to Kherson or someplace else, he could even be in Karula by the end of the week. Although I don't know if that would be such a smart idea, judging by the temperatures there right now... I hope Urmas has some fish ready just in case...

Hi Francesca, juta and all others :hi:,

I'm not quite sure what to make of the fact that Kaia's spot is the same as yesterday... Is this likely a data / transmission issue, or has she really not moved? The latter would worry me a little...

Hi Hulbi Lorm,

the transmission point of today is from the eary morning, about 4:10 pm UTC which is 7:10 local summer time. I suppose that we see Kaia's night and breakfast spot.

Wait a moment ... maybe I can find a detailled picture of the place.

Kaia 4:08 UTC

Thanks Francesca, that looks reassuring. It's quite easy to read too much into it when you only have one data point for the day, but the timestamp gives a very good explanation here.

It's a pity that we haven't yet received any full data from Kaia, it would be so interesting to see where she spent the winter and which route she took... But most important is that she will be back safely some time in April.

Hello everybody!

KARL II 28.03.-29.03.2023

Distance: 74,5 km

Our famous Karl II is still or again in Romania. He is having a little break (knowing that Urmas and the other Kotkaklubi guys have so much to do now! )
Karl II spends the time at a nice lake or fish ponds near the village of Carja west of the river Pruth.

from Wikipedia:
Cârja is a district of the town of Murgeni in Vaslui County, Moldova, Romania. It is believed that the village got its name from the boyar of the same name, Carja, who owned a very large area of land on the current territory of the village. This name has endured for centuries, and in modern times the village gathers families with this name under its wing.

Today (2006) the city of Cârja has about 1,700 inhabitants with an average age of 50 years and is considered a suburb of the youngest city of Murgeni. Cârja is particularly well-known in Vaslui County for its fish farms, which are currently managed by private companies.

In the past, the city of Cârja was also known for its natural potential, thanks to the bodies of water where, year after year, a true paradise for aquatic birds emerged, including: swans, ducks and wild geese, water martins, coots, cormorants, herons, shovelers, storks, seagulls and pelicans, alongside the villagers' waterfowl: domestic ducks and geese, in several variants (Lestian, Canadian). The variety of fish that could be found in the waters of Cârje until a few years ago also attracted a large number of professional and amateur fishermen. Among these categories we mention: carp, carp, tench, bream, bream, catfish, pike, perch. The large expanse of water and the diversity of the Cârjene vegetation form a suitable terrain for a variety of other land creatures, such as e.g. Mouse field, the pheasant.
