I compared 2 maps. Birdmap shows Karl II feeding at ponds, but Google Maps 2023 shows land there. Probably, pond farming has been discontinued, similar to some places in Israel.
However, I hope there is a wet place there and Karl II ate well.

Our Waba is still in the greater New Halfa area west of the Atbara river. It looks like a very storkish place.

Hi everyone ,

Jersi, I guess you did a Google search for "Balta Mare", but you landed at the wrong destination. The place in your screenshot is also called Balta Mare, but it's near a town called Bădoşi, which is located in the south of the country. Karl II's Balte Mare is near a town called Cârja (almost "Kaia" ) at the border to Moldova. There are also some recent Google reviews for that place, it's still an active fishing spot for tourists. (They often don't seem to be very happy with the amount of fish there, though. I hope Karl II is more successful. )

She is now north of Adana at the hills of the Seyhan river of the Catalan Dam.
