:slap: Year after year after year Teo and other males dig out the big stump in the middle of the nest. In case there will be eggs, they click against the stump and can break.

:hi:

While Teo stays away from the nest again, the squirrel is very loyal.

09/07

Seems the season was only successful for squirrels here.
Which makes me particularly happy as she is no less coveted at WTE and Goshawk.

Several times a day you curiously explore the nest of the osprey. :2thumbsup:

This nest seems cursed...the enemy doesn't only have wings.

The danger is reported from the air. I find that very interesting. Is it a sparrowhawk? A falcon, anyway.
Is he warning partners or Hawklets?

The robbery was not actively observed. The culprit not clear. There was no noise.

I was just wondering if he's wearing his likes?

The next few days will show whether the marten wipes out an entire brood. I wish very much that other cubs find the escape route.

A light in the day..
08:04/05 an adult and a young animal can be seen
08:16 - 20 heard several voices under the nest. There could be more than two votes.
Image

Image

'42 they are active - the front branches give it away

09:56 They show themselves

As far as I know, martens are more active at dusk and at night. Hunting during the day is a possible sign that young martens need to be fed.
It is a cycle of nature and what will happen will happen.

21:13 The next visitor announces itself with heavy wing beats ... a WTE visits the nest.
Shovels nesting material, does not seem in a hurry.
During its existence, several begging calls can be heard nearby.

08:52 - 55 The WTE back in the nest.
Stands still, keeps looking into the nest bowl...poops overboard and flies away.

:hi:

@Ligzdas Gariņš reports a WTE. (calls and sightings)
I am not a WTE expert.
Are the calls (heard very often today, even while the WTE was at the nest) WTE Juvenile? And this one is also a juvenile, isn't it?

Thank you very much @Ligzdas Gariņš! :2thumbsup:

...and a sparrowhawk.

Curious at the nest yesterday evening. :innocent:

(Great @Ligzdas Gariņš !)

Even today, begging calls are widespread throughout the day.
I'm not sure if sparrowhawk or buzzard. Sometimes it sounds to Goshawk.
Here there are two again.

One excerpt/moment:

Nice to hear about this young life. It is no longer a matter of course. :innocent:

August 1st

The sounds of the last few days get a picture.
Two Juvenile Goshawk meet at the nest.
Shrill sounds can be heard, which can certainly show competitive behavior.
Image

I don't know what drives this juvenile to the nest to expect food. An adult Goshawk has not been seen here for the past few days.
Goshawk have also stolen chicks from Ospreys in recent years but never have matings or adult or juvenile calls been heard.

It wasn't until this season that the Osprey left its nest....

***

I messed up my recordings a bit technically and had to set them up again. I noticed the following:
The head pattern shows adult plumageby at least one ! Two adult Goshawk? (possibly a juvenile- an adult. Both female. (Because usually only adult females also use the begging call and would not drive away males (?) ) :help:
...
Both show adult head plumage. Two females. ?
:puzzled:

That would explain the high-pitched defensive calls I've never heard from Juvenile before.
At first I thought of handing over the food, but the lute doesn't fit.

Could also be heard later.
btw: from 5:13 p.m. also calls from the buzzard. Possibly two votes later.
Also owned again by Goshawk.

Today those calls get an even better picture and Polly was completely off the mark - because no, the Goshawk are sparrowhawks! :slap: :rotf:

The movements very lively.
Goshawk are also lightning fast, but the Sparrowhawk seems lighter in its movements.

So now ~ there are sparrowhawks in the terrain. After sightings of WTE and Goshawk (adult) this season, it was a tactically smart decision by Teo not to go into a brood here.

I think he already decided it last season. Teo did not make the 'final arrangements' before migrating. He didn't come to prepare his nest and say goodbye as usual.

Even if the sparrowhawk isn't really a serious enemy...WTE, Goshawk and Marter might have thwarted another breeding attempt again.

I sincerely hope that the wonderful and unique Osprey Teo is doing well.
Somewhere else ... :innocent:
