Here is a video of the second egg being laid. Will you be watching the live stream on Sunday in case there is a third?

It looks as though Elen has finished laying and will only have two eggs this year - yet another indication that she is a young Osprey breeding for the first time, as we suspected. Now we cross our fingers and wait patiently for the hatching to begin in about a month's time.

On Sunday 30 April an intruding Osprey, Blue 416, briefly landed on the Glaslyn perch. We reported the sighting and have received further information about the bird.
Blue 416 was ringed as a chick on July 9 2020, at a private nest in Cumbria. He was one of a brood of three. This is the third resighting of him, he was first seen at Abbotsbury Swannery on 28/08/20 and on 07/06/22 intruded at the Brenig Osprey Project, where he was seen off by the female LM6.
Interestingly on 15/05/22 another male hatched from the same nest, Blue 403 (2019) landed on the Glaslyn perch. How long will it be before a Cumbrian hatched Osprey joins the Welsh breeding population?

Z2/Aeron delivers a fish to Blue 014 on the Friends of the Ospreys nest at Pont Croesor. We can expect the hatching to begin around the 24-25th of May.

Another visit from Blue 414! The daughter of Glaslyn hatched Blue 9C (2014) landed on the Glaslyn nest again today at 12:35. She was last seen at Glaslyn on 22 April and paid a visit to Kielder on 3 May. Doesn’t she look like her grandmother?

Elen enjoys a break on the perch while Aran takes over incubating duties. We'll be keeping a close eye on the live cameras for a possible hatching from June 1st onwards...

Viewers of the live stream might remember watching the developing relationship between a pair of swans over the winter months. Well, they are now proud parents to two young! The family can be seen on the Glaslyn river from the Visitor Centre.

Elen takes full advantage of her downtime on the perch before things get really busy with chicks on the nest...

Update from the Friends of the Ospreys Pont Croesor nest.
Late Wednesday evening the Pont Croesor female Osprey, Blue 014, took a fish away from the nest to eat and Z2/"Aeron" was observed incubating the eggs. When Z2 bought a Flounder to the nest early on Thursday morning, Blue 014 remained on the nest. At 06:45 we noted a change of behaviour, Blue 014 stood up in the nest, picked up the fish and began to offer small pieces down inside the nest. We observed this behaviour several times during the day and we believe that the first chick has hatched. Congratulations to everyone concerned with this nest.

Another visit from Blue PU1! He is a male Osprey hatched at Loch Tay, Perthshire in 2019 and he was seen earlier in the season when he landed on the Glaslyn nest on 17 April. It was Elen's turn to see him off the nest this time.

Here is a video of the special moment the first Glaslyn chick hatched. Will we see signs of the second chick tomorrow?

After Elen's first few nervous attempts at feeding, Cyw Bach 1 had a hearty first meal of fresh flounder yesterday morning. It looks as though the second chick is preparing to make an appearance too...
