It looks like she is currently looking for food in a wet area in the fields

A very nice VIDEO, showing the lake and its surroundings.

"Beylikova Dam is a dam built between 1996-2002 for irrigation purposes in Eskişehir, fed by canals over the Porsuk Stream.
... However, in 2016, since the dam leaked water from the concrete, the reservoir was completely drained. The dam's floor was improved and patched, and then the reservoir was filled again. ...
The filling of the dam starts with the arrival of a 5 km long canal from the Porsuk River to the pump building next to the dam. ..."

Hi Anne and everybody,

We know Ekesehir already from last year! I was so fascinated that birds loved this district.

I am very curious to see where Karl II and Metsoja are going to.

Hi Francesca!

As Swenja wrote, it is quite possible that soon their paths will part again.

This is such an amazing observation. Here it really pays off that Kaia got her transmitter last year. Really makes you wonder - was their meeting an enormous coindicence, or have they somehow planned this... We need a stork thought transmitter next. :D

And I really would like to understand weather storks recognize eachother.
They obviously do not recognize their offspring otherwise the experiment with the foster child Bonus last year would not have worked.
And do the partners recognize outside of the nest? Or are the just foreigners to eachother?

Karl II, Metsoja and Kaia, as shown in OrniTrack this early morning. :D
Many thanks @Anne7

Thank you @Francesca_V :hi:
Metsoja is also somehow "Karls' family" by now.

There must be countless storks (white and black) just there in this area!

Hi Francesca :hi:

I am personally convinced that Karl II and Kaia recognise (know) each other. And as for Bonus, I am of the opinion that they realised there was suddenly a strange chick on their nest. They accepted him/her, even though they probably had no idea where that storklet suddenly came from. As a rule, birds are not aggressive towards juveniles.
Humans have had the tendency for centuries to underestimate (or ignore) the intelligence of animals, and birds in particular. Recent research increasingly shows that this is very unjustified.

“Clearly, animals know more than we think, and think a great deal more than we know.”

Birds have completely different brains and senses from us humans. They live in a different universe, so to speak, with different information, needs, rules and norms. But it is not because they are completely different that they are stupid. Not at all!
The longer I observe Black Storks, the more they surprise me.

Yes, it is very interesting to learn more about birds.

Not far away from my town is a Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour, and they also observe birds. They have even developed a transmitting system that ist independent of GSM and GPRS.

Well, there are a lot of bird experts, and I even thought about contacting them and asking them all i want to know about birds.

A very fascinating question, Hulbi.

Personally, I don't tend to believe in enormous coincidences. But who's to say?

Either way, it's extremely interesting to be able to observe all this.
