Oh, I have another picture from the morning of the 25th, the camera found 2 more stags walking around together:
Image

I think I've mentioned that I was going through the forum looking at old seasons and adding pictures from past seasons to Hirvecam, to see who has been visiting for how long and how the antlers evolve every year. Now I finally started adding other main characters from older seasons, but since I want the keep the more recent deer on the main page, I'm adding them with the dates from the season they last visited and they go to the end of the blog. So I will list them here to make them easier to find. As usual, I gave them random names to make it easier to distinguish them.

Currently I've added 3 stags who last visited during the 7th season (2019/2020):

Arvo (seasons 5-7): https://hirvecam.blogspot.com/2020/03/arvo.html
Camilo (seasons 3-5, 7): https://hirvecam.blogspot.com/2020/03/camilo.html
Ilmar (seasons 3-7): https://hirvecam.blogspot.com/2020/03/ilmar.html

Thank you very much rongike. Isn't it also possible that the stags were shot by hunters?

Yes, I think that's usually how they disappear.
But maybe some move to another area of Saaremaa during the summer, I think that's more likely for the young ones. Some of them might also get into car accidents. But there's not many wolves in Saaremaa (there's a lot of sheep on Saaremaa and farmers don't like wolves) and wolves usually hunt the smaller roe deer.

A new post by RMK: https://www.rmk.ee/metsa-majandamine/lo ... -hooldusse

The red deer camera will be stopped for maintenance from Saturday to Monday. It also talks about how the rut seems to be going slow this year.

Thank you, rongike. The warm weather is certainly one reason. Mating takes place in the cold season and not in *summer*. Let's hope for the best.
