Hello Polly and everyone.

They're still there (yes I heard it), also at 15:02.

14:50/51 The woodpecker also circled around the nest tree, calling. I was hoping he would show himself because at times he could be heard very closely. But unfortunately no.

Then cats, several times. (also in the morning)

19:01 H21 was heard twice in the darkness that was setting in. Not far.
I couldn't hear if H44, with a quieter voice, was also present. The wind was too strong.

Emiliano! :hi:

Reviewing, I have seen that what the hawk was giving at 15:02 , is not (sorry) :banghead: but at 19:04 it also sounds in the background, it must have moved from 19:01.
Thanks Polly. :2thumbsup:

There was a hammering in the workshop (metal on metal?). Hearing it at double speed it actually sounds like Goshawk...yeah, I checked it twice too.
I didn't think it was important to correct it. Please don't apologize.

Today there was nothing. Image
At some point it sounded like Goshawk but far away.
It's good if there is no excitement.

Hello , Polly.

You already know that I don't like to make mistakes but it's not easy.
It was at double speed with several tabs at the same time, it caught me switching between them and it was also about to close. At that moment it seemed like him to me and I reviewed it when I saw that you hadn't put it on in the evening.
The sounds of the goshawk are varied, although some are the same (ki-ki-ki) they are very nuanced with speed and mood, in addition the elongated sound also in different tones depending on the intention, its gjack (chatter). Others are monosyllabic cries as if muffled and I also distinguish the one in the morning when I wake up that sounds similar to one of the blackbird's.

In the countryside from April to June there are many sounds of other birds that can be confused with yours because they are short.

Then there are the imitations, I do not consider the voices of the blackbird and the seagulls to be imitations (they are similar but without the intention of imitating). I think the woodpeckers must be similar and the true imitators are the jays and another one that we have almost never talked about, the starling.

A world of sounds.

I go with you.
When I walk to work in the morning (which is about 5:30), the blackbirds are very active. There is a cemetery on the left side of the path, and I walk past a large copper beech tree on the right. I often thought - a paradise for goshawks. In fact, two weeks ago there were signs of picking under the beech tree. But it will have been the falcons that can be observed here regularly.
Back to the sounds I pick up along the way...the blackbirds have a similar sound to goshawk. And also the alarm calls of the woodpecker. Some woodpeckers. It is the alarm calls of these birds that sound like goshawk in pace.

Unless I missed something, the first and only Goshawk of the day (so far) was heard at 16:29 - 36 (approximately).
I was torn between whether it was a very excited adult female voice or a strong teenage voice.

I think a female juvenile...
What do you think?

It started with crows.
I don't know, to me these calls sound very mature in their emphasis and sharpness. Although the voice sounds youthful. Another adult female or if it's a female juvenile then o lala...

16:48 There's still a cracking in the branches somewhere...

He is a youth, who is already learning!!!

How long do they keep this sound?

Since February 2021, when the H's began to appear, I think we have not heard this call from them.

Good evening Emiliano and everyone! :hi:

Well, after the jay looked into the nest in the afternoon, the young female also flew around again.

Jay 14:40

16:46 - 58 She flew through the area shouting. Looking for contact... Looking for a partner?
(Seems to be the same voice but yesterday it was more powerful and sharper.)
At 16:59:12 another short call, then she at least stopped calling.

It cannot be ruled out that she will still be present here.

Let's compare their appearance with yesterday - in an almost identical time window.

Nothing from Team H... no couple chatting, no objections...
If you want to hear the calls:

Hello Emiliano! :hi:

I just finished the video and see your post.
Well, I don't think it was Jay.
Rather, I think we're listening to H21.
3:39 p.m., '42, '51, '55, '56
4:00 p.m., '01

The intensity of their calls seems to be increasing. (during these named minutes)
I wonder if she's calling urgently for her partner (...and, at least to my ears, not audibly getting no response).

I'm now glad to have taken up these calls. Actually I didn't want it. These daily videos seem monotonous. Nevertheless, they reflect the events.
Maybe you'll listen again? :innocent:

What a streak I'm on!!!

Listening to it now it is very clear, I listened to it at speed and on several screens, I did not check it later at normal speed.
Moving a lot brings this, also with wireless headphones I go outside and there are times when I can't hear (when they put the fiber on I'll be able to hear better from the outside). Thank goodness you're there, I'll try to be more diligent.

Greetings and thanks. :2thumbsup:

:hi: together!

While an unpleasant weather situation continues over Riga and pre-loving goshawks are neither heard nor seen, I found a video - Marder & Goshawk.

Good morning! :hi:

The weather situation is much more relaxed today compared to the last few days.

Now that the strong wind is gone, you can listen to bird calls again.
And indeed there is a colorful atmosphere again... robins with their alarm chirping, woodpeckers, blackbirds...of course crows. What wasn't entirely clear to me was the sound of a buzzard earlier in the morning. I didn't track it back but just let the time run.
I hope and think we can see a Goshawk soon.

edit:
16:27/28 Couple whispers?
H21 didn't sound lonely

October 10th

:hi: everyone!

07:09 a morning presence call from a Goshawk

10:04/05 excited call of a woodpecker
...and three minutes later two great tits hop through the nest.

11:00 Goshawk calls

11:48 two Goshawk
Although the sounds are similar, the positions are different. The second call definitely came from the tree.

Good morning Polly and everyone.

Very good news, almost certainly H21 on the nest branch. The first voice could be his approaching the branch.

From tomorrow I will be gone until Sunday.

Greetings and thanks. :2thumbsup:

Emiliano, nice to read you! :2thumbsup:
The first voice could be his approaching the branch.
That was my first thought too. I then checked with headphones to be sure. There is no sign of a country sound and it is two voices.

I'm starting to need some reassurance that we're actually listening to Team H.
I'm bursting with curiosity and excitement.

Have a good break and stay safe! :innocent:

Normally the sound in the air sounds a little different and that has not been the case but they have been so close together that it was also possible that they could be from the same individual.
Without seeing it, I think it is H21 and possibly with the previous configuration it could have been seen.

In any case, this call didn't sound lonely and that's a very good sign in any case.

The woodpecker passed through again (15:50) and shortly afterwards a great tit in the nest (16:02) - there was nothing else.

Well, it's almost dark now.

Ps:
..with the previous configuration it could have been seen.
I think so.

Sleep well!
