Good afternoon all! :hi:

05:30 - 08:00: No eagle owls heard or seen
16:00 - 18:30: No eagle owls heard or seen
----
07:19 Pygmy owl wakes up

06:52 Pygmy owl's good-morning call
07:22 - 24 two roe deer, coming down the hill
07:46 another two roe deer from the upper left
08:14 the next one coming down the same way.

15:15 - 15:19 two roe deer, in the left foreground
15:25 they are still there. At 15:27 one scrapes the dry leaves away a bit with its hooves, then lies down on the cleared spot. It only jumps up once, when a woodpecker scolded loudly about spmething, then lies down again. It gets up 16:47, after one hour and twenty minutes. Got up, yes, but keeps standing in the spot. I wonder if it is alright? Doesn't look so... :puzzled:

17:16 It goes to the left and, if I see it right, lies down in the very same spot as before - at the very left edge of the picture, just the end of its back visible.
17:37 it has moved out of view, or it has laid down again. It's too dark now to see.

07:57 two roe deer from the right. (I wonder if they're the same as last night, and if the one which lay down for so long is okay now.)

Good afternoon all! :hi:

06:00 - 08:15: No eagle owls heard or seen
15:45 - 19:00: No eagle owls heard or seen

----
08:07 three roe deer from the left. Two of them are gambolling around playfully, must be youngsters. :D

In the afternoon, as on almost every weekend, there is forest work going on not far away.
I am beginning to wonder if it really makes sense to continue watching closely. This area seems so badly human-infested that our owls may have decided to withdraw into a less disturbed part of their territory.

07:24 Pygmy owl whistles; 07:35 quite near, lovely! I always hope to see her someday, but haven't had the luck yet.

07:54 What is this, not the buzzard, or is it? White with black tail end underneath? It just flashed briefly across the corner of the picture:

I am watching the Ahrtal Cam 3 in Germany right now. There you can see (and hear) what an autumn courtship of eagle owls looks like. :D

I strongly believe Hanna & Hugo have left for another place. So I decided to stop the close watches here. Should there be any sign of our couple coming back here, I will resume.

Askja, thanks
Askja, it has been clear to me for a long time that neither Hugo nor Hana are still here. Either they left the area, which I think is less likely, or... I was already sure with the last RT post that it couldn't be right. If they had been in the area, we would have heard them.

It has snowed

GT: Mirtel and Mattias move around in their territory, it's up to the couple to settle the base of the nest in 2024

Thank you RT!

Killing animals in front of camera.  thank you! It took them a long time to kill it. I'm not sure if it's really dead or just seriously injured.
I always thought it wasn't good to keep track of which animals we saw and when. There are too many people who like to kill animals.

I will do a video of this event. Everyone should see, what what happened here on this camera.

I agree with you Liz. I too sometimes worry that revealing the whereabouts of the animals (for example, they find this place particularly safe for breeding) can also have the opposite effect.

Your video (when it's finished) should definitely be made public!!!

There have also been evening activities here in the past.
Glad you were paying attention... Even if it can no longer help one animal - it may help others.
Thanks for that.

Polly, you're welcome. I'm still shocked.
Please feel free to make a video and post it here. I'll just show mine on YouTube
BTW: I know that many on the Internet use these and other media to track animals. Thanks to GPS tracking, anyone who wants to can do it.If an animal stays in an area for a long time, it is not a problem to find it. If it has a transmitter and the data are publicly available.

...It took them a long time to kill it....
I heard two shots in quick succession.
If you can put it that way, hopefully this animal didn't suffer for long.
I can't judge this situation accurately. But I think that the hobby hunters (poachers?) were not aware that they were being recorded.
What did they kill? Wild boar?

It's never nice to see.
Experts will be able to assess the situation better than me.

I am without words.
Youtube, the owner from this area or "inspector" R.T wrote
Mirtel ja Mattias pole praegu pesaga (alus) seotud. Jahimehed vedasid kütitud ulukit, sest sealt oli parem kui läbi võsa, metsa. Randar
Mirtel and Mattias are currently not connected to the nest (base). Hunters carried the hunted animals, because it was better from there than through the bush, the forest. Randar

So it will be good to avoid this camera. Who knows what else these people are doing in front of the"nest camera" For the LK it doesn't seem to matter what we have to look at. the cameras don't count anymore. Only black stork... so you can end this here
