Otherwise, of course, the hustle and bustle of the smaller neighbors prevails.

Little woodpecker... 8-)

Good evening!

There was a bit of action going on today in the territory of the magical H's.

12:28:42 see and hear two Goshawk

To my delight, it appears to be the same loot delivery location as last year.
Only now that the leaves have fallen can we see the place near the stream again.
So it's possible we'll see the resident Team H.

One goshawk leaves, the other lands and stays.

12:29:14 Now the other Goshawk is also leaving the place. And it seems he carries food in his claws. Not small... it's so big that it's easy to see (zoom)

Calls ring out.

14:23 Crows are a little away to hear and there seems to be a raven quite close.

15:30 From now on, calls that sound like juveniles and adults again.
Two Goshawks...
15:43 now we hear a trio - the woodpecker joins the conference. 8-)

Until 3:52 p.m., the adult female in particular can be heard with warning calls.

The calls sound closer/near towards the end. But then it's over.

During my recording I had to smile - I didn't see it before.

H21?

That's why the calls suddenly sounded so close.
Who would have discovered them here? :faint:

Flies up from far below

...and leaves the place in15:52.
With that the shouts ended.

Hello Polly :2thumbsup: and everyone.

After today I feel much calmer, that couple with the confidence and serenity they show cannot be more than them. They are heading into their fourth season and they will be at least in another nearby place (or in the same one).
I had a feeling that they were going to be seen and that sedentary couples stay together all year round. What the bibliography tells is true but there are also other truths.
Young and unpaired they move in search of territories and mates. With this couple we have been very lucky and they have taught us a lot.

Furthermore, we have been able to see them and associate their sound with the distance.

Greetings and see you tomorrow.

]I'm back home now.

November 30th

Emiliano, everyone! :hi:

There's something to hear again - whoever it is.

07:52 clear calls of a goshawk

12:10:28 Crows approach.
12:10:38 Rustling in the tree or at least close, calls follow
First ki ki ki, then begging.
12:14:16 briefly sounds like two goshawks but it's possible a seagull call sneaks in.
12:18:20 Rustling and a quiet beeping

The voice is so whispery and broken that I briefly think it might be an impersonator.
I hope the guest in the tree shows up somehow. Somehow I think it's a Goshawk.

Ugh, I have the visitor.
Scurries 12:10:37 into the lower branches.
The picture doesn't exist but it's too big for the woodpecker or jay.

Image

The calls continue 12:29 - 31, 34 - 40, '56
12:18:20 Rustling and a quiet beeping
Here, too, I have only now seen the Goshawk again. :slap:
Flutters one floor higher in 12:18:18.
Is he in company?

I managed to shorten what was actually a long stay (12:10 - at least 12:56).
3 minutes the arrival and the first calls and the fluttering up.

13:11 two "Gjak"

2:10 p.m. call nearby
14:10:36/37 Goshawk can be seen at the top of the screen (center) flying into nearby branches.
14:11:33 Flies steeply downwards

(Not sure - another one seen shortly before at the back of the site.)

Have a nice afternoon and evening everyone!

The second half of the day also had something to offer.

I have to say that I'm pretty worn out from the day and haven't dissected every sequence and second.
I have an idea based on the moments seen and heard but as always everything can be different.

16:06 Start with shouts that sound urgently warning. Adult, female?
16:11:18 Snow flurries in a higher position - possibly the extension of the upper branch. Sharp shouts

This is followed by a break of approximately 4 minutes

16:17:30 a goshawk flutters into the lower branches of the tree
The calls probably continue from higher positions.

16:26:50 the Goshawk leaves the area again while the calls from above continue. These calls do not match the goshawk, which has left the tree again.

So two Goshawk?
Couple or competitors?

16:28 the shouts become even more emphatic.
16:29:12 another Goshawk leaves the lower area. Delicate, thin calls.
Is there a meeting there?

16:29:46 - 53 yes, Jay rounds off the event with the final word. :D

I wouldn't dare speculate that we're definitely listening to H21. It would fit and we would like it, sure.
In any case, a female says - this area is mine.

Hello Polly :2thumbsup: and everyone.

There are chicken sounds next to the adult sounds, it seems like it could be asking the adult for food. At five months old, a chicken of the year should hunt by itself unless it is not in condition. On the other hand the sound seems to have not evolved and is more like a chicken in the nest.
They may be imitations.

In my previous comment I had not heard those chicken sounds and we continue to miss H44, and the sound of the female does not seem to be entirely that of H21.
This afternoon there were goshawk imitations between 16:05:57 and 16:29, some of them very well done.

All the best

Hello everyone!

Emiliano, nice to 'see' you! :2thumbsup:
...unless it is not in condition
Well, I hope this cub isn't in real distress. But we know that the mortality rate in the first few months is actually quite high.

December 1st

And it seems to be present again.
Crows are coming up again and bringing the Goshawk with them?

10:25:50 Landing sounds in the tree. (?)
Quiet calling...really very, very quiet. Almost breathy.
'26 Rustling, movement heard and continues calling.

I don't think it's an imitation.
Of course I could be wrong and hope we get a glimpse of the visitor.

10:32 Crows fly around the tree for a moment
'36 the calls sound stronger now

'40 Crack
'46/47 Crows nag close

But there have been no more calls from the Goshawk for a few minutes.

December 2nd

:hi:

Only one call so far today...
13:40 sounds like a female and a contact call.

Not after...nor before
...and not perfect for producing the first branches.
Still nice...

Have a great evening.

Hello Polly and everyone.

The call is close and has all the earmarks of H21.
Once again there is calm after the mix of young people, adults and imitations. I observe that imitations occur mostly in the relatively close presence of the imitated.

Good night

December 3 th

Good night Polly and everyone. :hi:

Today the goshawk was heard at 16:38:41, already close, it had sounded a little further away before and was surely getting closer.

See you tomorrow.

Emiliano :2thumbsup: and everyone!

Yes, absolutely, it seems that the couple has a very benevolent presence here.
In the best case scenario, it's the resident Team H. Since we're at least pretty sure we can assign H21 acoustically. But in any case it is a couple, which seems to be confirmed by the calm shouts and contact calls. I like to call it chattering and babbling.
it had sounded a little further away before and was surely getting closer.
14:38 I wrote down 'chatter' on my note.
Yes indeed.

Jay and Specht were also very active again.

December 4th

There is still a lot of activity going on today.
Although the snow mountain takes up a lot of space on the screen, there was still some fluttering in the background. Usually in connection with sounds.

11:00 Crows increasing to 'gurgling' and at 11:00:18 we hear the reason - Goshawk
(at 11:00:14 he can be seen flying upwards in the background on the left)

12:06 - 12 fluttering, calls...fluttering
12:12 now with gentle 'Gjaks' :innocent:
