I was wondering when we could expect this visit again.
She doesn't live here, but likes to visit in the winter. Last:

The tawny owl is busy with its prey.
Seems some offal (intestines) are spurned. They stay there - the 'rest comes with them'... to another place.

It was important to me to include some of the calls. It's what makes the tawny owl so special.

11:33 A titmouse flutters down from above. She seems interested in the frozen spaghetti. But don't stay for a meal.
(09:38 already briefly in the nest)
12:22 The next guests don't stay for long either - 2 jays.
12:22 Looks like two arrive together but one flies back to the park. The other jumps towards the camera and then back.

Hello Emiliano!
Tonight we saw Strix aluco.
Here, at my house, we also have long-eared owls (Asio otus).
and is singing now at 1:19 p.m.
I have to ask you because I'm confused or mistranslated - now? 1:19 p.m.?
I don't hear anything except mortise drills and someone is walking underneath collecting branches.
13:51 A magpie chatters and clatters.
The visits today are varied.

Thanks Liz for the introduction to the day....
You don't sound thrilled about my post. I can understand it.
Polly, I hope I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't know if you were here or at work. And before everything is lost, I wanted to save at least a few pictures.
I didn't want to mess up your thread at all. I wouldn't have done anything, but the WTE thread kept mentioning this visit from the Tawny Owl. So I looked at it. I don't normally watch this nest anymore.
Absolutely not. I only added the 3 pictures (- because I'm always excited about spread wings and the fact that Tawnys don't like spaghetti) and the date.
I am grateful for any help!
Gladly again and again!!!
Ps: I've had a terrible headache for 2 days with no apparent cause (I never actually have this.) I can't deal with it.
I'm sorry if I 'sound' harsh.

Dear Polly, thanks for your answer. I'm very relieved that it's "just a headache." I don't want to take anything away from anyone. I had a bad experience here a few months ago.
I really hope that you feel better soon.
It takes members like you and Emi to monitor nests even when it's not season. Out of season is also interesting (when you don't have to listen to and watch hunting)
Whoever celebrates this tradition... I hope everyone was happy with Santa's visit.
I do...my head is just buzzing now, the explosion of every brain cell seems to be over. Thank you for all the kind words.
I believe Goshawk withdrew their presence today too. I can't document anything regarding this. Maybe any of you noticed a call or fluttering in the background?
To do this, crows ventured very far into the nest.
The cold pushes the animals beyond their limits.
Everything is searched for something to eat.
This crow bears the film of frost on its feathers... the harshness of the weather shows in its feathers.

At the start of the new week, winter is gripping its teeth.
Maybe it will make the snow cover more accessible, disappear completely and make it possible to find grains, scurrying small animals etc.

Emiliano! I don't know it. I almost suspected Corona. I'm not a whiner, quite the opposite. But I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
We look.
Something will definitely happen here. This weather paralyzes nature - winter is silent.
Resources are conserved.
But we know that this territory is otherwise full of energy. And that there are Goshawk here to defend it.
Wish you all a wonderful evening!
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

Thanks Emiliano!
Yes, yesterday was a snoring day. Today too - until dusk. Then (unexpectedly for me) clear calls suddenly sounded.
I spontaneously thought of contact calls but there was something “thrill” in the call. I don't know if there was any excitement in the air. I also thought that the sound reminded me more of H44 than H21. We haven't heard the pair consistently in ages - I'm completely out of practice. So it could have been any Goshawk. But it definitely brings joy.
At 16:43:43 a crackling sound in the tree
Well, of course the animals behave in energy saving mode. Every sign from them is even more beautiful.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
Indian proverb
Then there was the encounter between magpies and crows.
Their sounds aren't the prettiest and the fact that they don't like each other is heavy in the air.
I believe crows and magpies are breeding rivals. Or rather, they are rivals for good nests.
Although they often sit together at dinner tables.
Last summer crows destroyed the magpies' nest. (In front of our house in the oak tree.) It was hard to watch. The female was already stuck and the magpies fought for the nest for a long time - in vain.

. Thank you for your wishes. I'm going uphill again even if I look a bit used. It must have been a virus.
Have a nice evening everyone!
