Kergu starts the day, as he does every day, with nest work.
He fetches nest material and spreads it around the nest.

10:29 Kergu flies high into the tree.

Apparently a female is nearby.

11:14/15 Kergu is back in the nest. He brings nesting material and sings a short song.

I am so sorry for Kergu.
He stands at the top of the tree and sings repeatedly, but no female will/can hear him.

The more I look at this, the more I think this was a European Honey Buzzard.
Not a threat to Kergu and guarded chicks.

I would also say Honey buzzard. What speaks against the Buteo buteo?

As far as I know, buteo buteo has light markings at the underside of its neck and belly, which should be visible on the video.

Undigested food residues want to get out.
Kergu rolls it down his throat a little more.

It looks like a deer.

That's the prettiest buzzard I've ever seen. I looked it up, it really does look like that. Your buzzard looks more like our hawks over here. Our buzzards are dark with red heads.

Kergu spent the morning working on the nest.
He fetched nesting material and tended to the edge of the nest.

He sings a short song from time to time. But no female seems to hear him.
