Nest is located in South Estonia, Tartumaa, not far from a fish farm. Natural river and ponds are in vicinity, too.

Ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) reach body heights of 50-66 cm, and wingspans of 1,27 - 1,74 m. Females are bigger than males.

- Winglength ♂ 448 bis 495 mm ♀ 470 bis 518 mm
- Weight ♂ 1,12 bis 1,74 kg ♀ 1,21 bis 2,05 kg

Usually two or three eggs are laid and incubated 36-41 days.
Young Ospreys fledge after 50-54 days.

Main Events 2024

Possible egg laying dates (not confirmed, only 18. April is quite sure):

15. April --- Egg #1

18. April --- Egg #2

21. April --- Egg #3

- - -

27. April --- Cam stream is opened for public

Two Ospreys on the nest - osprey communities says the female is still Iiris (no rings), but male is no longer Ivo (ED), new male (m1) has no rings
Three eggs in the nest bowl

- - -

01. May --- Invasion of a second, unknown, unringed male Osprey (m2) viewtopic.php?p=925270#p925270

01. May --- Second male Osprey (m2) pushed one egg out of the nest bowl, egg stays laying at the rim viewtopic.php?p=925282#p925282

02. May --- Second male osprey (m2) pushes the second egg over the nest rim viewtopic.php?p=925426#p925426

03. May --- The pushed out egg, that was closer to the nest bowl, has found the way back into the nest bowl and is again incubated viewtopic.php?p=925562#p925562

10. May --- Little furry visitor on the nest rim viewtopic.php?p=926700#p926700
Video to this event viewtopic.php?p=926754#p926754

15. May --- Another massive attack by an unknown unringed osprey viewtopic.php?p=927468#p927468

17. May --- Rather peaceful visit of another unknown unringed (female?) osprey to the nest viewtopic.php?p=927799#p927799

21. May --- One egg vanished overnight, only one egg left viewtopic.php?p=928387#p928387

26. May --- Again an attack by an unknown unringed intruder osprey viewtopic.php?p=929135#p929135

6. June --- Complete camera drop out (for good?) Reason explained here: viewtopic.php?p=931311#p931311

Beside the here mentioned attacks have been several more along the whole season, all ospreys were unringed, so no identification possible

Also a lot of shorter camera drop outs have happened repeatedly

No osprets this season

Is it still Iiris or not?

As far as I heard the male on the nest is without rings, so it is not ED Ivo ...

Egg laying dates have still to be confirmed by Kotkaklubi, I think the second one was laid on April 18th and a third should also be there .... but I´ll wait for exact details until I´ll add it to the main events for this season

And let´s cross our fingers that the stream will hold on!

I had just about given up hope of being able to watch this nest this year, but here we are with 3 eggs! :loveshower:
And this seems to be Iiris?
Has anyone seen Ivo?

:hi:

Here the first glimpse of the male just a moment ago (12:42 Estonian time).

Image

Unfortunately I think he took his fish with him and took off and left our mum (I think Iiris) without food. EDIT: Or was it the right male?

Nice to see someone "old" who has found the cam :innocent:

Sorry. I thought he flew off. So Iiris got a nice lunch and he took over incubation. I follow two different cams and am not aware.
At least I caught a pic of them, when capturing a pic you don't register everything

Btw I think there are fine pictures of Iiris on the page #6 year 2020 where the comparison in incubation position is easy to do

12:40
Fish delivery, female is off with it, male incubates

Left side is the female (I tend to think it is still Iiris), right side the new male
They have different dark/bright feather pattern on their heads upside, the new male´s feathers are darker at this spot
Hm, not only on the head, it looks like he has all in all a bit darker feathers ....
