I am really hoping that the cameras both here and at Karula will be fixed once migrations start. Or in really early spring. Something must be causing these transmission losses and the occasional ear-shattering static/scratching noises.

Because if both nests had chicks, we would have missed a substantial amount of possible observation on both.

Hello here,
and thank you for Kergu's daily reports and pictures from the nest!

It's so pity that our Kergu is alone this year too . But on the other hand, maybe he has a chance to get to know that visitor-girl closer somewhere outside the nest. Let's hope so!

Hello @brofasa and @Treia :hi:
This year does not seem to be a good year for black storks.
I have hopes that Kergu has found a female near the nest. A female familiarizing herself with the nest
would give a better chance of a successful season next year. Unfortunately it didn't work out this year.

12:01 Who is this black stork? No singing.

A stranger examines the nest. The moss is spread around the edge of the nest.

12:09 The stanger sits down. Is it the female?

Image

12:11 stands up

The edge of the nest is also changed.
Image

Perhaps it is the female for whom Kergu often sings a song and he behaves like an ostrich. :D

Exciting, yes, I hope it's Kergu's Lady female!

But the Bear could go away!

The visitor seems to be waiting.
Kergu, you have a visitor. Come home! But don't storm the nest, please!

12:31 sits down.

Has she already moved in with Kergu? 8-)
The nest seems to be a safe place for her. She sits relaxed in the nest and sometimes closes her eyes. She is resting.

Maybe Lady has indeed and already moved into the nest, and now it will be interesting to see Kergu's arrival in a cleaned home.

That’s exciting…
Who’s this?
A lone male? A young female?

The young female that has been around before?! :D

I’ll try to prepare a few closeup pics of this nice visitor as soon as I get home.
