This is no food for such small chicks. It seems there are no small fishes or caddisflies.

12:08 egg has breaks on two sides . The lid will be off soon Image

Image

12:12 she stands up again
aerating the nest bowl
Light and shadow make assessment somewhat difficult. But I think the hole has enlarged nicely.
It will hatch today. The other eggs are not turned. I have no idea if there is a hole there

and I need a break.

There has been quite a discussion about this behaviour in past seasons in other nests in regards to taking food from their partner that were meant for chicks...

In another nest this season, when one parent is feeding, and the other one made an unexpected return (eg: to drop of nesting material), the feeding parent immediately took back all the food, and waited until their partner left before putting the food back out to continue feeding.

In this instance, I think she was just a little slow on taking back the food.

These are all guesses. So - I think about it differently. My assumption is also just a guess. If you discuss it for 100 days, you won't know.
I grew up on a farm. At least I know how animals react when they see food.

The meal around noon was probably the frogs that have been partially disgested to a point that chicks can eat pieces of it. I saw the parent taking back just the legs at the end of that feeding.

Dad made adjustments in the food. It went from giant frogs to small fishes. Even though the fishes are big compared to the chicks, they're more eatable.

they do not adapt the diet. They bring what they can find. This could also be a pike that is much too big. They can't choose. The idea is unrealistic. This is wilderness and not a supermarket. He would never ignore big fish and only look for small ones. That would be crazy!

Here the egg on the right in front at 6.54, i think i saw the first little PIP on egg 4 (red dot).
The PIP on egg 3 was at that time already bigger. So, it could be that this one was the PIP on egg 4.
