Well, it's been a dry winter. So dry that they may decide they can't breed here.
When they return, both partners explore the area to see whether the area offers sufficient food sources. If the ditches are already empty, they won't breed.
I think,It's too late if the food supply can't be exploited in the spring.
BTW: I don't need an infrared camera. There are hardly any members who document anything. And I personally sleep at night. Over the years, I've become accustomed to interpreting what I hear at night. That makes it exciting.
