17:06 Our stork gets up and starts singing.
I think it’s the male.
Image

17:06 Shaking a branch. This looks like nest defence, again? :slap:
Image

17:07 No! The partner flew in!
This is the female, I think.

Anne7 wrote: May 2nd, 2025, 1:33 pm ....On 06 May, the first egg laid will have been incubated for 32 days.
It takes 30 to 38 days for a BS egg to hatch, depending on the intensity with which it has been incubated (especially during the first few days), the ambient temperature and the weather conditions.
Experienced parents try to regulate incubation so that 2 (and sometimes even 3) eggs hatch on the same day.
Anne thank you! :2thumbsup:

Anne, you forgot one factor, and it's very important. When hatching begins also depends on the clutch size. 37 days for Jan and Janika. (15.04 first egg - 22.05. first hatch on this day 3 hatched on the same day )

11:18 stands up and is calling

nest defending. Nothing serous.
11:19 egg care, then defending again
11:21 it is over, he covers the eggs again
Image

Anne, I'm grateful we don't see the intruder. The further he is from the nest and eggs, the better for everyone. Should he get to the nest, the respective parent would have to react. I remember with horror the scattering of eggs at the Zille's nest.

12:18 egg care and healthy ps
12:31 the intruder is back. That means a lot of stress for the breeding one
12:32 he turns ans covers the eggs again

13:54 egg care in strong wind
15:45 egg care and he turns
16:00 - 16:59 all is OK

It was very windy at times. It's possible he stood up and sat down again without turning. I would only notice that if I checked almost every minute. That takes too much time. I orient myself by his posture, which tells me if there's any danger, and then if he suddenly sits the other way around. Then I take a closer look.

Look how deep the nest bowl is. Perhaps a new load of nesting material needs to be brought in.
