The night is getting cold. This could be a bit unpleasant, combined with the wet weather. Tomorrow, however, will be drier.

I didn't document yesterday, but I saw it (and recorded key moments). Mona had good breaks yesterday. She can benefit from them. :innocent:

Mona leaves the nest, calling loudly. Miks has made himself known.

12:44 Mona returns with a large, dry pine branch. Her approach looked a bit difficult. It seems the wind has blown Mona's huge branch off course a bit.

He lies quietly on the eggs but is very alert in all directions.

Mona is compensated today for yesterday. She can replenish all her resources.

Good morning!

The cuckoo has arrived in the area. :nod:
5:06 a.m., and its call can be heard even longer.

Mona also starts her day.
5:13 a.m. - 4:00 a.m., she leaves the nest and returns with a piece of bark.

The next breeding break. Mona barely lies on the eggs. :laugh:

The male guards and warms the eggs until Mona makes herself known again.

She first flies off to the right. Moments later, she lands briefly on the neighboring tree, and then flies into the background.

Miks can be heard close to the nest, making gentle calls, but it takes a few moments before he actually enters.
He guards the nest and eggs, dozes a little, and observes his neighbors.

15:05/06 Mona begins calling very intensely. She continues calling for several minutes in different vocal tones.

15:34 She stands up, relaxes, and aims for a spot below the nest. Mona leaves the nest.

May 10th

It's the final stretch for Mona & Miks. The chicks will start hatching in a few days. :bounce:

The eggs require a lot of attention and must be incubated properly. Male Miks is now in demand. It's no longer enough to simply leave food for his female at a feeding station, as was previously the case.

05:10 Mona leaves the nest for about 4 minutes.
