17:13/14 Pērle goes to get green pine branches.
The dwarves don’t always have it easy either.

17:48 - 50 Pērle sneaks out of the nest for a moment - nothing remains undiscovered. 8-)

20:24 H44 brings fresh food. He still has feathers on his beak from plucking and preparing for feeding.
Image

The little dwarf pulls forward from his poor position behind his siblings. He did it confidently, well done.
Frees itself with its small paddles and maneuverability. :2thumbsup:
Image

Image

But the second, smaller chick now has the trouble of the second row.
There are two large chicks. They don't have to be the older ones. The females also grow faster in size.

Feeding until 20:35

May 10th

There's no shortage of food here. Rather, Pērle & H44 carry it and fly it in circles between the nest and a nearby tree.
Sometimes Pērle seems a bit restless about this, but that's just my subjective perception.
I don't know what role the super-caring H44 plays here, who always carries food after his female, even when she doesn't ask for it.

05:24 Pērle leaves the nest and returns with food.
Image

The little darlings are fed until 05:39.
They practically jump for the bites. The chicks are lively and strong. The first differences in size are slowly becoming apparent. Soon, it will tentatively become clear who the boys and who the girls are.

Pērle leaves the nest with the leftover food, but quickly returns with it.

A few small bites find their way into her little beaks, and Pērle leaves the nest again.
Image

It all starts again. :faint:

05:41 She returns briefly with the gnawed remains before quickly leaving the nest again.
Image
'42 Pērle has now returned without food... rest returns to the nest.

The forum is running so slowly again. This will be my last season here. It's no longer fun.

05:44 No sooner has Pērle gathered her chicks than H44 reappears with food.
Image

Puts it down and fusses with twigs on the other side of the nest. :whistling:

Two minutes later, H44 leaves the nest again.

Pērle follows him almost at the beat of his wings.
She found a piece of food among the chicks, which must have fallen between them during the last feeding.
Image

She is very clean and thorough...

Pērle returns with a green pine branch.

06:21 H44 again

He pulls the piece of food toward him and begins to gnaw.
Image

Pērle takes it, stands up, and begins feeding the chicks, while H44 flies to the upper branch.

So Pērle feeds until 6:29 a.m.
Three chicks are enthusiastically involved until the end. Dwarf #4 quickly dives down.

She brings some of the food from the nest and, upon returning, finds a leg of the food carcass, which she swallows herself.

08:30 Pērle climbs to the edge of the nest, transforms into a hedgehog, and leaves the nest.

At 03:35 she returns with food.
It seems a crow was too careless again.

Pērle feeds until 8:50
All the dwarves have eaten well, even if one of them often sits in the opposite direction.
Image

'37 During feeding, H44 calls from outside.

Pērle carries the food carcass outside and can be heard again, in a heated voice.
Image

As before, it sounds like mating noises. I think it's due to hormonal changes and particular irritability?

She returns via the upper side branch, finds some more food, and carries it out.

'53 Pērle returns with a twig.

11:20 H44 calls across the field.
Pērle climbs onto the edge of the nest, fluffs her feathers, and has the food brought to her.
Image

'24 H44 now comes to the nest with food

Feeding until 11:37
Image

Pērle carries the leftovers out of the nest and returns to the nest tree from the opposite side. She calls out, sounding warning and annoyed.
Crows can also be heard.
Image

Pērle jumps into the nest, but leaves again to carry out leftover food.

12:16 Pērle cleans the nest. :D
Image

She actually throws some nesting material out of the nest bowl.

She retreats briefly to a neighboring branch and then returns to her sleepy chicks.

Sunbathing for the dwarves. :innocent:

12:54 Pērle jumps into the upper branch, and while she grooms her feathers, the chicks in the nest have everything to themselves.
Image

Pērle jumps to the outermost point of the branch and breaks off a fresh pine branch.
Image

She returns to the nest via the upper branch.

13:02 - 11 While the bundles of joy rest peacefully, Pērle sneaks out of the nest. Quietly...

14:41, 15:07 ... Pērle is busy again, freshening up the nest bowl. The nursery is being thoroughly cleaned.

16:30 too ....
And it's so nice to see how the little ones are becoming more confident and better at motor skills.
The first escapees are starting to make their way to the edge of the nest. :2thumbsup:
