The Third Chick Has Hatched!!!!
Fantastic news: only a matter of minutes ago, at roughly10:48, we saw the third chick on the Manton Bay nest hatch. And with two fish pre-caught and ready on the nest, the three hungry chicks should have plenty of food to get their strength up.
Yesterday, 33(11) caught seven fish and so he's been keeping very busy providing food for the chicks on the nest.

Another 2023 Manton Bay chick has been spotted. On 14th May 3H5 intruded on nest 7 at Kielder Forest.
3H5 is the sister of 3H3, who also was seen at Kielder Forest a few weeks ago. 3H3 has been doing a tour of the UK, so it will be interesting to see where 3H5 goes next.

Fantastic news, in the early hours of Saturday morning, the fourth chick hatched on the Manton Bay nest. Almost exactly a week after the first chick hatched we now have the full family on the nest.
Naturally the newly hatched chick will currently be a lot smaller than its older siblings, and all four will be vying for feeds from Maya. Maya, being very experienced, will hopefully successfully feed all four, and over the last few days 33(11) has been bringing in a lot of fish for them all.

Who remembers the fish incident from last year?
We certainly get flashbacks when 33(11) brings in a fish, especially when they flap around on the nest like it did this morning. Thankfully this time no chicks were endangered during this clip.
33(11) is still regularly brining in the fish for Maya and the four chicks, and at the minute he is averaging about 8 a day!
Maya is doing a great job ensuring at all four are getting fed. We are excited to watch them grow over the coming weeks.

With four chicks on the nest, there are lots of mouths to feed on the Manton Bay nest. As a result, 33(11) has been very busy catching fish to bring back to Maya and the chicks. This has provided some fantastic opportunities to see 33(11) fishing from our hides at the Lyndon side of the Nature Reserve.

What a Difference Two Weeks Makes!
Just two weeks ago, the first chick hatched out of its shell on the Manton Bay nest and now, all four chicks have hatched and are thriving! Maya and 33(11) are doing an incredible job ensuring that each chick is well fed.
The growth in the oldest two chicks is especially striking. They've already developed darker pin feathers, and the eldest is even starting to explore the nest, crawling around with the help of its wings and legs.

When you are hungry, but Mum’s not around to help feed you
Earlier today we saw one of our Osprey chicks having a go at eating a fish that had been left on the nest. It’s amazing to see how quickly they are all growing up.
The oldest chick is now just over 3 weeks old, with the youngest turning 2 weeks old today.

Now they look like small dinosaurs
I am impatiently awaiting the ringing day when we get know who is who, I mean how many girls and how many boys there are.
Let it be more or even all girls there, what means potentially more ospreys in the future
I deeply hope and wish them happy depart to Africa in about 2,5 of month
