Y diweddaraf o'r nyth, Update from the nest.
Well after all the drama of the past few weeks, this was a relief to see, LJ2 delivering a fish to 372 and LJ2 incubating the egg. Phew!!!

Brodie 1, Intruder 0! 🦅🐟
Check out this incredible moment from last night when Brodie fought off an unringed male Osprey... by dropping a fish on him! 😲💥 Our new female then swoops in with lightning-fast reactions and saves her dinner from sliding off the nest!
This intruder has been hanging around for the last couple of days, but Brodie's been doing his best to fend him off. They were last seen this morning having an almighty scrap on the nest! ⚔️
Will Brodie manage to defend, or will this other male win out and claim the nest? Only time will tell! 👀

We woke up this morning expecting to see a second egg in the nest laid by 372 during the night and there it was. However, after scrolling back through the camera footage it would seem 372 did not lay an egg but rolled the egg that was on the side of the nest into the egg cup. Is this her mothering instinct, even she expected to lay an egg last night or is she just pacifying LJ2 making it look like she laid another of his eggs????? More very interesting behaviour from 372.

REAKING NEWS!
NEWYDDION!
Our friends, Friends of the Ospreys have sent us some great news regarding Roli KA5 2019 born Llyn Brenig. Diolch yn fawr!!!
Update on the Chris Wood nest
The last couple of weeks this pair have been defending the nest, they’ve established a territory keeping other ospreys away, the first few days they had a male Osprey from a nest not far away visiting and making a nuisance of himself, but all that looks to be settled now, they’ve built up the nest with lots of nesting material and everything is looking really promising for a successful season. Male KA5 2019 from the Llyn Brenig nest, an offspring of Blue 24 and Blue HR7 and female 7C1 2022 from a private nest in the Lake District, offspring from male 9C 2014 who’s an offspring of 11/98 and Mrs G from the Glaslyn nest.

Another action packed week at Loch Garten, with Brodie doing his best to fight off another intruding male Osprey. But who is this intruding male? 👀

Since KL5 came back, he often appears in the nest. Recently, Brodie and his female have not been seen. The female that has appeared in the nest these days looks new to me, and now there is a new ringed male... I can hardly keep up with the new drama after just a few days of not tracking this nest

UPDATED on Wednesday May 7th.

We have discovered that 536 fledged at Loch Fleet in Sutherland in 2022.
We have decided to give 536 the name Aurora.🙂
🤞 She has been with us (and Garry) since Good Friday, so it is looking very positive for a longterm pairing on Nest 1. 🤞

Noswaith dda, good evening. All is calm.
After an exciting start to the day, a female intruder (but without nest cam working we couldn't see if ringed). All continued into the normal routine. 372 and LJ2 sharing incubation duties. And an evening fish delivery of brown trout.

In the chat room, people called this male KL5, which confused me a bit. When KL5 came back, he still had the blue darvic ring KL5 on his foot. When did he lose it? (I don't think that ring is easily broken) and there is information confirming that his BTO ring is 1401225 ? There are so many question marks in this nest...

There’s been an intruding Osprey at the nest site this evening pestering 022 and CJ7. Here’s 022 chasing it off in the background as CJ7 watches on.

Exciting news! Newyddion cyffrous!
X6 “Olwen”, one of the Brenig fledgelings from 2022, has found a partner and is nesting at an undisclosed location in Wales. We think there is at least one egg being incubated.
X6, offspring of LJ2 (our current male, of course) and LM6 (who failed to return last year) was ringed as female but it turns out he's male!
Given the X6 now identifies as male, we are renaming him Owain.

Osprey on the Middlebere Channel nest platform at RSPB Arne this AM at 06:58. Annoyingly it landed in the nest rather than on the edge so can’t see if it’s ringed.

Latest Osprey Update! 🦅
A quick run down on what's been happening over the last couple of weeks. A much more settled nest, but does that mean we are going to get some eggs soon? 👀
