9:54 A sigh of relief for Mona.
The weather is now more pleasant again.

Mona leaves the nest for a longer period. The dwarfs know how to keep themselves busy.

She doesn't return until 10:17 – again without food.

11:09 - 22
Mona is catching up on everything.
Once again, she's treating herself to a break, and she's certainly not far away.

Everything can air out! :innocent:
She returns empty-handed.

13:20 Miks brings a nice piece of food into the nest, and Mona assumes a defensive posture. She coats, defends.

Mona pulls the food closer, and the smallest one moves past his siblings on the side.

First row for Mini. :2thumbsup:
But it doesn't stay that way. The chicks constantly change their position, and the smallest one is sometimes pushed down by the paddles of the larger ones.

Well, even when Mona changes position, the chicks run from left to right and vice versa.

It's a long feeding (35 minutes) , and everyone gets their bite.

Nothing's left over. Mona eats the last little bit herself.

15:13 Mona leaves the nest and returns two minutes later with a pine branch in her beak and food in her talons.
Image

She nests a bit. Her chicks appear sluggish, so she stands at the edge of the nest for a while and then returns to the chicks.

15:23 Mona sees or hears something and rushes out of the nest.
Image

She calls for a few minutes, and Miks can also be heard.
Intruder or what was it?
In any case, Mona returns four minutes later – with a bird.
Image

She nibbles at the edge of the nest a bit, but then covers the chicks.

Here's the last one from yesterday

17:42 - 53 Feeding
And it wasn't the best for the youngest chick. The older ones usually outperform. Mini is barely visible at all. Only at the end of the feeding does his little head appear.

Mona's little absences follow.

18:52 - 55
Mona brings bark to the nest.
Image

21:01 - 04
Now she brings a branch.

21:22 Miks calls, and Mona rushes out of the nest.
She brings food, and it's the ultimate feeding for Mini!

This little super dwarf bravely holds his ground in the front row next to his older sibling.
And he can reap some bites... finally!
Image

Image

Image

And not only that.
The little one, barely a day old, rushes forward and wants to help himself to the food. It's so good to see! :2thumbsup:

Mona seems a little rushed during feeding.
She feeds quickly and calls out while doing so. She calls out begging and warning calls. Perhaps Miks is staying too close to the nest?

Nevertheless, she finishes feeding with time and patience and all the chicks are allowed to sleep well fed into the night. :innocent:

May 20th

06:05 A nearly relaxing morning. :innocent:
The cuckoo can be heard. Not much else.
