The couple is very low key today.
Yesterday they showed presence, but were less active.
Perhaps the temperatures will slow down the animals again. Still currently -7°C.
09:56 Ruudi back into the nest with a belly landing.
When he calls, you can see his steaming breath.
Ruudi fiddles a bit, then out.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
Indian proverb
Yes Hellem, you are a busy reader here.
Surely you know that I also preach mill wheels.
Certainly there are also 'Schadhabichte'.
But let's consider why even Goshawk have a hard time finding good food. find enough.
Why Goshawk shed their shyness and move closer to humans.
I wrote it a long time ago too...cleaning up the woods, not enough undergrowth...Coppice lacking for rabbits, rats etc. Good food for Goshawk.
The moose is settled well but it destroys much of the coppice. The wolf that could regulate the moose - is hunted in many countries. Legal or illegal.
There are also political and agricultural policy mistakes, and let's not forget this dumb hunting tourism and poaching.
A broken cycle.
And then you often see moments here in the forum. Moments and lines in which an animal is required to be caught because it hunts for food.
Where hatred of an animal is exposed. Because it eats simply.
Oh well.
I once read the following poem:
Der Habicht
Es haust im düstern Walde
Ein Habicht grimm und grau,
Er schont kein Tier der Halde,
Kein Vöglein auf der Au'.
Und was er sinnt, ist Schrecken,
Und was er blickt, ist Wut,
Und was er ruft, ist Grauen,
Und was er treibt, ist Blut.
Habt ihm sein Weib erschlagen,
Zerschossen stets die Brut,
Kennt nur noch wildes Jagen,
Und Rache peitscht sein Blut.
Doch nie war sein Geschlechte
So mörderisch wie Ihr!
Er jagt mit gleichem Rechte
Und schonender als Ihr!
Aus Fritz Engelmanns "Die Raubvögel Europas", Autor unbekannt
GT the hawk
It dwells in the gloomy forest
A hawk grim and gray,
He spares no animal in the heap,
Not a bird in the meadow.
And what he thinks is terror
And what he sees is anger
And what he calls is horror
And what he drives is blood.
killed his wife
Always shot the brood,
only knows wild hunting,
And vengeance whips his blood.
But never was his gender
As murderous as you!
He hunts with equal rights
And gentler than you!

Dark but I was touched.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
Indian proverb
I came to the Goshawk to get to know him. Driven because he plundered nests that I loved.
I wanted to know why he's doing this.
If the Goshawk is actually that murderous beast I saw. It was curiosity, surprise and almost fear (before what I may see) that drove me.
And no... it's not him!!!
Anyone who has dealt with these birds and reads and hears their enemies knows that we are dealing with lovable, social and unjustly hated animals.
Who tries to understand and accept the cycle of nature ... to give every animal its chance to live and to survive. Who doesn't try to decide about a cuteness factor about it ... .
Also Goshawk actually have cute - potential.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
Indian proverb
He puts down the branch, sorts another branch but it's kind of obvious - nest building is complete.
Ruudi and Alla worked hard and created a safe shell for the chicks.
Ruudi is drawn very pretty and soothing. Clear drawing, beautiful strong coloring ... engaging.
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
Indian proverb
This time he doesn't come quietly.
Ruudi calls, then he devotes himself to some branches, sorts them, pushes them.
Even when he leaves the nest, it remains quiet.
I don't know Hellem, maybe we have the calm before the storm?
Ruudi and Alla slow down their activities, especially Alla. Possibly the cold snap. It is also possible that everything is finished and ready ... .
We look!
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."
