Good morning everybody!

I think that this nest is not in much worse condition than last year. Camera has a bit other angle than last year. When we first saw it, it was a little organized already, we didn´t see emty nest as it was after winter

I don't think that the cam has another angle, Juta. Look at the trees. In the middle they are exactly vertical.

I was also wondering about the angle but couldn't be sure. I compared the trees and branches positions and still can't be sure.

There is now an introduction for the stork cam on main page of LK and it also includes a link for pictures from camera installation last year.

There can be seen that the crack in the middle is probably not a crack, but a forked branch.

Baska, thanks for washing away the African dust!

Clearly, the camera is at a different angle this year. We can see a different view of the tree trunk. Last year we could not see that. As for the sloping angle-Karl has done so much repair work that I am tempted to ignore the slope and expect all to be well..
Anything else means we have to live in a state of fear!

Though slanting, this nest survived the heavy storm with the wind gusts at least 25-30m/s last year on 3 July causing great devastation in the surroundings

Thank you Aita. That is a helpful photo - we can see the shape of the forked branch now. The nest surface seems to be horizontal in that picture.

The pictures of the camera installation are again interesting. Thank you, Aita!
One can see, that the surface then was completely horizontal, - like in many pics from last year. After the heavy storm in last summer - was it end of June or beginning of July? - the nest got its first slanting position. Over the winter it became even more sloping.
Let's hope that the nest is fixed solidly at the tree trunk and that Karl build the surface more horizontally. Hopefully after all is enough space for parents and storklets.

Liz, Baska and all, thanks a lot for pictures and videos! Liz, the video with Karl and the very big branch, he brought at 6:15, is amazing. How Karl manages to handle this monstrously branch, is really great. He was fighting with it, for two times he almost lost it, but in the end Karl was satisfied. Great to see!

Urmas sent me a photograph which he took at the nest, during installation of the camera. Here is Ain Nurmla, who was also present, as we see! I put this pic in the introduction on Page 1, but as we have moved on, I think it is allowed to re-post it here!
