.... Kati still seems startled.
.... A very tender greeting. "It's OK, Kati."
.... And a little kiss
so heartwarming, it's as if Kati would say: "oh, dear, i'm so glad, it is YOU"

Yes, it was very cute
It is raining in Karula Park.
16:24:37 A PS. (Sorry, Karl II )
16:24:43 This really looks like a quick way to stretch, doesn't it?
The "fence" is not that high, and Karl II is already over it.
16:26:45 And now the other leg.

Yes, to me looks like he is stretching his legs, also during the next egg-rolling at 16:56,
he didn't move away from the center of the nest
16:56:06 Karl II carefully rolls the eggs
16:56:12 stretching his left leg
16:56:20 continues carefully rolling the eggs

18:09 Karl is alarmed
18:11 all is ok..he starts preening himself.
As long as I watch .. since 2013, I saw no such stretch. I saw this leg lift only when something bothered. They stretch in a different way.

I agree.
Liz, maybe Karl II has a slightly different way to stretch.
Or maybe he is stretching another part of his body this way?
I have seen him doing it this way many times.
18:09:01 Karl II hears something. He is startled.
18:09:17 Who's there?
18:11:21 He starts to relax again.

What an eventful and stressful day for Kati! and seems to Karl II too - to be driven away from his own nest!

Now, after intense focus on stretching (i meant the last hours), I noticed that Karl II more often stretches or shakes out his left leg than his right. Whether that means anything, I don't know. But I will pay attention to it in the future when I watch the nest.

Thank you, balistar.
It is clear to me that BS not always stretch the same muscles.
Sometimes they stretch their wings (that's always clearly visible), sometimes they stretch their legs (the legs are then usually completely stretched out).
In this particular case, I suspect that Karl II is stretching his torso or maybe his belly.
Perhaps, lying on 4 eggs, without damaging them, is not that comfortable.

I think we all use the phrase "stretching the legs". Usually done for the simple need to move after a time of stillness, or another cause.

Hello everyone,
thanks a lot, Anne, Liz, balistar and all for the reports, pictures, videos and comments!
What a day again! Poor Karl II who was thrown out of his own nest!
But on "the first sight" Kati probably can't recognize him.
Anne7 wrote: May 4th, 2019, 2:55 pmMichi :hi :
Here, we can see how Kati threw out Karl II, April 24th, 2018.
Thank you for the information, Anne!
I haven't seen that last year, otherwise I would have remembered.
Kati is obviously a very good fighter for her nest and the clutch.

Certainly not and not that long hours
Yes, Anne, you might be right, though i saw it again at 19:16 (3x left leg, 1x right leg). But as i said, i don't know...

Liz, I think, the video doesn't work. There is sound but always the same picture, - Kati on the eggs.

19:24:08 Karl II was preening, then he must have seen or heard someone,
he suddenly stood up and was looking to the right
19:24:12 he was watching attentive
19:24:33 nothing, he then went back to the eggs
to continue breeding and preening himself
This time the ring number wasn't to read, right? Karl has the ring number 715R.
It is not likely that it was Karl.
I think it is likely, that todays visitor was the same than yesterday.

It wasn't Karl.
Karl has (or had) the big ring 715R on his left tarsus. (a pic from last year)
Today's visitor (and the visitor on May 1st, with code OFAF) has the big ring on his right tarsus.
I believe that it is less common to put the big ring on the right leg?
Today's picture from the intruder (by Liz). The ring is on the right leg.
My picture from OFAF on May 1st. The ring is on the right leg.
EDIT
Liz01 wrote: May 4th, 2019, 1:36 pm
I think it is very likely that he comes from Latvia.
Storklet Rasa Raitis (season 2016) had the ring number OFAA :shake :
...
If I am not mistaken, in Latvia they put the big ring on the right tarsus, don't they? Liz, that supports your assumption that OFAF comes from Latvia.

Is it only me that saw the transmitter on his back?
asteria, i watched the video now about 10x in normal speed and in slow-mo, i really can't say.
If you mean the picture: i've made the experience, when i took a picture with fast movements, there often appeared in reality not existent "patches" that are misleading us (for example on the picture appear double wings).
I'd like to follow the thought of Michi, it is more likely that the stork is the same visitor than yesterday, the OFAF.
That explains everything perfectly. Thanks, Anne.
Great pictures, Anne and Liz

21:00 most needed beautiful land rain goes down in the Karula forest
Karl II dutiful lays flat to protect his precious eggs from moisture
22:00 it's still raining, i think Karl is alone in the nest for the night

Well explained, balistar. In the video I saw something greyish looking on the storks back. But it was blurred and far too big to be a transmitter. Probably such a not existing „patch“.
