I don't understand why he only screwed down the large horizontal beam to the main support and a branch. And not some of the others he put next to them. Will they not fal when there is a storm and heavy rain?

Many years ago I have done something like this with the nest of a Hobby in the top of a tall Pine.
Much easier, but also without safety lines and things like that. Only two old men below to tell me to be careful. Good old times.

When I ve post a link showing repairing of disintegrating nest during last season in my country, one of more strict members from norther Finland replies like this:

"I wonder if it is a purpose of the nest cams - to interfere in the nature, when it is question of a single nest in order to only please watchers ... Someone said last year, that the nest cams are no Disney World, I agree. These "rescued" birds never have a guarantee that humans in all danger situations come and save their lives ..."

Who knows what does he think today?

Yes, but I liked the original more. Too many heavy short sticks. But it is not made for me but for the eagles.
It was a lot of work. Almost two hours. I think in the case of Lesser-spotted eagles it is worth it. Let's hope it will last for many years.

This man was Uģis Bergmanis. Main LSE researcher in Latvia and one of most well known specialist about this species in the world. He has about 30 years long experience with artifical nests of the birds. So I think, he knows what is needed to repair nest here.

I didn't watch what he did in this occasion but I have worked with him together in pair occasions and I know that he has very serious safety systems with ropes. Only danger what can happen is, if the tree fall down. Then nothing can help.

It is not the climbing and working in trees what worries me but the working with a very sharp saw up there. One mistake and you bleed to death when there is nobody near to help.
