5:45 Oxana jumps down from the cam support, then Madis flies in. He seems not entirely comfortable with her (he mantles), but he does mate before flying off.

5:47 Madis is playing catch-up with the nest - he's brought more sticks and nest material.

I've noticed the mantling too.

Maybe the same duck, maybe not :whistling: There is no way to prove it is the same or another duck :help:

Perhaps just a link to the other topic is better? The test for "is it OK" that I use is: is this an observation about THIS nest? If it isn't, then I look for a better topic to post.

Duck in Ilmar's nest. Same duck? (is it okay to post this here?)

6:02 Oxana has been waiting patiently ... for something.
Madis arrives - but he does not bring a fish.

6:04 Oxana has been chirping. Madis flies off ... and around - he comes back to mate with her.

6:12 Car horns? Oxana becomes rather agitated. Then a train whistle is heard.

6:15 Oxana flies up to the cam support. The train continues on, and away ...

I think that first what happened was that Madis arrived but would not yield the fish to Oxana - he took it away in this video

after that, Oxana was on the nest, Madis returned with the fish - but Oxana left without it.
I think Madis flew off with it again.

Then he returned with half a fish and let Oxana have it - she flew off the nest with it.

Oh you are right. I didn't even notice Madis' ring in my picture. I only caught part of that saga. I'll change the caption.

Wisteria, if I did not have the videos to re-watch, I would be not sure what had happened. The comings and goings this morning are complex.

6:52 No one on the nest at the moment

6:56 Oxana and Madis arrive on the nest, they mate.
Madis then turns his back and "mantles". I am beginning to feel a bit sorry for Oxana.
