Re: Black Stork Nest in Karula 2019
Hey, I haven't read the texts every day and that's why I asked if there was talk of Karula-blackstork, did he come back?

My picture from OFAF on May 1st. The ring is on the right leg.
EDIT
If I am not mistaken, in Latvia they put the big ring on the right tarsus, don't they?
Liz, that supports your assumption that OFAF comes from Latvia.![]()
Anne and Jo

I have an answer from Maris
Yes, it is. It is a 4th calendar year bird, so tentatively - young (non-breeding yet) adult, who learns the life. Ringed on 2016.07.11 13:14 at the age of 48+/-(1) days, oldest of 2 chicks, nest not far from EE border. When I will get recovery location data from EE, will tell precise distance from its birth nest. You can publish this info, if it is wanted.
EDIT: another mail from Maris

Distance from its birth nest is only 36 km, so completely normal for males.
Kati can have young lovers

Karl II is good in time with the Christmas decoration.

Sova, thanks again for all your pictures and reports!
Our good Karl II has been very busy again! :-)
He is so funny. Some more pics:
15:57:17 "Hello, fans! I'm back."

15:57:08 "Shall I put it here? Hmm, no..."

15:57:17 "Hey, Kati, have you seen what I brought you?"

Hello
i noticed that Kati is breathing so hard. The area between the eye and the beak always swells. Should she have an infection there, that's why the many flies / mosquitoes on her head?

17:35:23 Poor Kati!

Already in previous years, we have noticed that Kati seems to breathe heavily. And also the swelling between the eye and the beak has been seen before.
It is a little strange because we did not notice it in other BS.
