Our Waba is still in Ukraine and turned back to the South. At the latest position s/he was near the village of Oleksijiwka.

Oleksijiwka (Ukrainian: Олексіївка) is a village in the south of the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with about 3600 inhabitants. (2004)
Oleksijiwka is located in the Nikopol district in a bay of the Dnieper, which is dammed to form the Kakhovka reservoir, 14 km northwest of the district center of Nikopol. The highway N 23 runs to the north of the village. (Wikipedia)

Our precious Waba is still in the same area

He/she is exploring the area between the villages Serbychany, Bilousivka, Kobolchyn and Vasylivka in the Chernivets'ka oblast in Ukraine

At 17:18 UTC Waba was still in flight (speed 17 km/h)

Waba spent quite some time looking for food in a little stream in a valley in this area, a little bit west of the small village of Vasylivka.

Vasylivka (in Ukrainian Василівка, transliterated: Vasîlivka) is a village in Secureni district of Chernivtsi Oblast, Chernivtsi Region (Ukraine). It has 1,372 inhabitants, predominantly Ukrainians.
The village is located at an altitude of 77 meters, in the eastern part of the Secureni district, on the right bank of the Dnister River.

Hi everyone :hi:

Today our Waba stayed in the same area near the villages of Serbychany, Bilousivka and Kobolchyn in Chernivtsi Oblast in Ukraine.
He/she spent most of the day in and near a pond, and was still there at the last known location point.

To ensure Waba's peace and quiet, no tracker map today

Distance: 5.99 km, since yesterday evening at 17:18 UTC
Battery: 65%

Today, s/he made a nice excursion, flew to the Dnister River in Kozliv, crossed the border to Moldova, but returned to some well-known places in Ukraine 8-)

Waba flew east to the Dnister River, crossed the river, but eventually returned to familiar places. 8-)

:wave: Hello everyone,
it was the beginning of July the last time I wrote on this forum and precious Waba was still taking us around Finland and Russia before finally arriving in Estonia 🎉. It is now mid-August and Waba and several other storks have already embarked on a new journey south. Wow!
Although like everyone else I am not unaware of the difficulties and dangers that our beloved storks (as well as all other migratory birds) may have to face along the way to their wintering sites, I prefer to leave this thought aside and focus instead on the abilities that these wonderful animals have. Seeing that their life goes on despite everything, heartens me.
Yes, we didn't have any little ones this season, but it was still interesting and exciting: the excursions of the resourceful Waba, the new pair of storks formed by the adorable Kergu and Kerli and then there are kuremari, Nurme, Timmu. I also want to mention the amazing Ogris and Urga and their four sweet little ones. I know this topic isn't about them but the success of their beautiful family this season gives me hope for nests in Estonia next year🤞🏻. We also have the new Alvar and Trauma, how exciting! Oh, by the way, I just saw that a new topic has been activated for the 2024/2025 migration and I'm really happy about it.
I really hope that all our precious storks arrive safely at their winter homes 🍀 and can't wait to follow their movements on the map 😊.
Finally and as always, I want to thank everyone for the many information, maps, images, videos and in general for the immense dedication you put into keeping this beautiful forum updated. While I am unable to actively contribute, please know that I greatly appreciate your incredible work and always enjoy reading posts from each of you.
