I wonder if "yawning" of BS's means the same as for eagles: "crop drop", when birds drop (sort of swallow) food from the crop to the stomach digestion. So not exactly the same as we humans "yawn" ...
20:37 Feeding, many small fishes, 3 older storklets are eating, the small one fell on it's back and can't stand up
20:39 The small storklet is at last on it's legs but it's too late ... Karl II is preening the storklets already
20:41 Karl II covered them but 20:42 is up again and begins again his preening round, 20:44 covered the storklets
20:49 Up again and preening continues, 20:54 dad covered the storklets, 20:58 stood up and is preening again, 20:59 he sat down
21:03 He is up and preening again, 21:04 sat down
21:27 The kids can't sleep, dad is preening them again, 21:34 he covered the storklets
21:47 Again ..., 22:04 he covered his kids
22:12 He is up again ..., 22:21 he covered the storklets, it's already dark

Thank you, Hellem
Fortunately, that shouldn't be a big problem, because at 20:16, it got food from Kati.
20:16 The youngest storklet has eaten several black little things.

Really, Solo ?
If that "yawning" (the picture of Anne 19:19:07) means "crop dropping", how is it then called when they really yawn, when they are tired or wake up from sleeping ?
Is "yawning" the expression for crop dropping only for storks/storklets ?
I always thought i see a difference in the way e.g. bald eagles (and e.g. peregrine falcons) lift their head up with open beak, in case they
a) are yawning
b) are doing a crop drop
c) are trying to cast a pellet.

This feeding was very nice, not all 4 have eaten.
Interesting was also the minute before, when small #4 was begging for food at the beak/or bill of Kati. I liked this very much, how small #4 (1 and a half day old) already learned caring for itself just like the big siblings
20:15 begging
20:15 demanding
20:16 eating, with big appetite (#4 on the left side)
It was also nice to see: the small #4 had a little effort with the last, a long lamprey (or whatever it was) and it lost it once, while Kati was already eating back. Kati saw it and let him try again - #4 picked it up again and in the end swallowed it successfully
Thanks, Kati

4:37 Karl II is taking care of the kids
5:26 the storklets are ready for breakfast After a long night the crop from Karl II is empty.
I see a black pellet. one of the storklets is eating it.
They have to wait, till Kati comes home.
Karl is poking in the nest.. is preening them. And they sleep again
They are already pretty big.
5:36 Karl II settles on his kids.

Researchers have proferred a rich and varied slate of theories, all supported with varying amounts of evidence, about the precise reason that birds and animals yawn, but nothing is conclusive. (source: https://www.birdwatchingdaily.com/begin ... irds-yawn/)
...We don’t yet understand all the many functions of yawning....
