Hello dear osprey friends :hi:

Oh nice - kalakotkas 2  :2thumbsup:

For me it's still difficult to say whether the female is Iiris.

Here are a few comparisons:

It all looks like Iiris to me, especially the facial expressions. Maybe @Sappheira knows more details.

@Bea, should we give the new male a name ?

Good morning Osprey fans :hi:

Yes, of course, we need a name for our new male - but I´d still like to wait some days until hopefully some more long-time-observers join in and express their opinions about Iiris ...

So far it seems that the new male is a good provider ... he delivers nice sized fish and also looks comfortable when incubating the eggs :D

Hello to all osprey lovers and happy new season!

I made a selection of images of Iiris for 2021-2022 and in 2024. This is without any doubt Iiris.
The first image - the pattern on the back of the head is absolutely identical.

Second image - the line of spots under the right wing lies at a right angle.

The third image - a fork of three white lines under the right eye. And on the pupil of the eye we see dark spots between “6 and 9 o’clock”. It's not very visible, but you can see it when you get closer.

The fourth image is dark spots on the pupil of the left eye in the "2 to 4 o'clock" area.

Fifth image - a line of spots under the left wing lies equally.

The sixth image is Iiris's forehead - a thick line in the center goes a little to the right (when viewed from our side), there are thin stripes on the sides.
I couldn't find a better picture of Iiris today where she's looking straight into the camera, but I think this picture also shows those stripes.

A new inhabitant of the nest with very bright, almost yellow, clear eyes, like amber.

In these pictures you can compare Iris and Amber (the plumage is darker).

Iiris is on the left, the male is on the right

The back of the male's head - the pattern looks like a mask or a frog, a very bright pattern.
