Hello everyone :hi:

Tatiana I enjoy your documentation very much! Thank you! :2thumbsup:

And of course a very big thanks to you too, Swenja! Great job, as always!

Kaia talks al lot with Karl II.
I think Kaia was hoping that Karl II would give her some food again. Every time Karl II bent over the chicks and they started to twitter, Kaia quickly came closer so as not to miss a possible feeding. But each time Karl II stopped promptly and the chicks fell silent again.

Poor Kaia. I think she realises (or estimates) that she isn’t finding enough food for the chicks and/or herself at the moment, and is nervous. In my opinion, she really should take more time for herself and go fishing more often, in order to remain confident and well fed herself at the first place.

WOW. That’s a huge amount of moss… and a great picture!

Hello @Anne7 :hi: nice to read you!

I don't think it was about food this time. It looked more like it was about the nest. Kaia fetched moss herself and she went to the branches of the nest edge too. Kaia had good ps on the nest if it's of interest.

13:29 Karl II flies away.

Yes, I agree, it was apparently first about the amount of moss to be brought and the nest. But then, between the last moss delivery (12:34) and the moment she left (12:42), it seemed to me that Kaia wanted to eat with the family. I could be mistaken of course.
Who can tell for sure what they want and are talking about? :D

Swenja, I think the number of PS (and the amount) we can observe is an indication of whether Kaia has eaten and whether she is still digesting (a lot of) food or not. Do you think it is not so? :puzzled:
In any case, I'm glad you saw a good PS.

Edit: I have now highlighted part of your sentence, to make clear what confuses me.

I always see if there has been ps. However, I would only mention it if I had seen no or weirdly colored ps.
I'm not an expert on ps.
The Camera Viewers see what is happening in front of the camera. I don't mention everything separately. But everyone is invited to document the ps and everything else too. More observers see more!

Yes, #2 must have eaten something too. The crop is also filled.

#3 still has to practice a lot.

Image

#1 can already stand safely ps.

Image

#2 is already very safe with ps and walks backwards. The chick has practiced the most diligently.

21:18 Karl II is not here yet. Kaia went on the curved branch because the chicks were asking loudly for food.
Kaia is waiting for Karl II.

OrniTrack information

Today Karl II flew 39.4 km
Battery level: 57%

At 04:02 Karl II leaves the nest.
He flies to a nearby brook, about 2.3 km from the nest.
Next, he flies on to a place where a brook flows into (or out of) a lake, about 5.2 km from the nest. He does not stay there for long. Karl II flies back in the direction of the nest and stops at a brook which flows under a road, about 3 km from the nest.

At 06:04 he appears on the nest.
He serves lampreys or loaches or ... .
Next he fetches nesting material.

At 07:26 he leaves the nest.
He flies back to that brook which flows under a road, about 3 km from the nest.

At 08:23 he is back home.
No feeding.

At 09:53 he flies away again.
I see him all the time in the forest, in the immediate vicinity of the nest.

At 11:29 Karl II is back on the nest.
He fetches more nesting material.
Next, he feeds his chicks (again lampreys or loaches or ... ?)
Did he still have these fish in his crop?

At 13:29 he flies out.
He flies again to the brook that flows under a road, about 3 km from the nest, and keeps looking for food there.

At 15:11 he is back on the nest.
He brings again those long dark fish.

At 17:40 he flies out.
He flies to the nearby brook, about 2.3 km from the nest, where he also has been this morning. Then he flies again to the place where a brook flows into (or out of) a lake, about 5.2 km from the nest. Around 19:20 he flies even further away from the nest, to a stream in a forest about 8 km from the nest, on the other side of that lake.

At 20:27, the last shown time in OrniTrack, Karl II is at a ditch in a forest, at about 11.5 km from the nest.

Today the chicks are respectively 22, 22 and 19 days old.

Swenja, thanks for all wonderful pics and reports!
Good night, everyone

Good evening.
Swenja  , I've been peering for the second day... - it's time to look for any more signs of difference between the older chicks...
I see that in No. 2 there is a corner on the bridge of the beak, don't you think?
