GT:
On Saturday, I wrote a letter to Movebank asking me to comment on the situation. Yesterday came a kind response from data curator Sarah. I could understand that it was an accident, but work is under way to regain access to the data. The letter was also addressed to a specialist who understands more of these things and can help me with access to the data. I wrote an explanatory note to both of the negotiators that it was public data and that I was not registered on the portal. An automatic answer came from Wolfgang's email that he will not be there until July 19th, but today he himself wrote that he was studying in the Balkans, where the Internet is slow, but he was looking for something to look at and, as far as possible, to do things later today. . Wolfgang convinced: "We will, of course, re-activate the public channel in the project as soon as possible." Sarah asked for a message if there are any questions about how to make sure that everything related to the research is still working (i.e. if it's in the Tracker app or if there are any external maps that may require updates).

I wrote to them at the end of the letter: "In each case, thank you for answering so fast, and we will be very glad if the data is again available! So many non-scientific emotions and expectations (to see at least one novel that returns and nests in the third year) we We have lived through this track of migration routes, including reflections on what is happening to nature and humanity. We are so grateful to the birds that they are still alive and survived in these terrible conditions caused by human unconsciousness. And we are also grateful for such a nice And the various worlds that we have been given, we are exploring the map and looking for these sites on the Internet. "

Thanks Liz01, you make easier for me to post in this forum too :loveshower: I was thinking how to make it in english.. but GT ir OK in general (maybe because I use GT to translate my text to english and answers to latvian), except theme of Balkans studys. Wolfgang wrote:
"We will of course reactivate the public channel to the project as soon as possible. However, I am currently teaching a student course in the field in the Balkans and I don't have a stable internet connection. But I wll try to do some Movebank work later today."

Dabas Dati
Verotaja, 07 Jul 2017 05:49: Perhaps M.Strazds went to "meeting Braille" and therefore himself did not take any steps to restore data visibility. (https://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.p ... 70#p145570)

Simba, 09 Jul 2017 09:49:Today I also received from Māris Strazds the following information. The public information that he allowed to publish is:"Data is not available due to technical issues (which may be irreversible). It is not known if they will be available at some time." (https://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.p ... 16#p145916)

I hope, Rasa and Mare are still O.K. :shake:

July 10th

Dabas Dati - Simba, 10 Jul 2017 14:16 (https://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.p ... 34#p146134)
GT:
I can inform you that data recovery has succeeded, but for the time being it is not publicly available and will not be there until it becomes clear about the reasons for erasing data (which could be a gross mistake, but it should not be repeated) and resolved how to prevent it from happening again. It may be that data will appear faster in the gore, but there is also a need to "reinvent it" and there is currently a rather bad time for such work, but nothing is happening on its own.
When it comes to living birds (now a bird), I can inform you that Mare lives along the Danube downstream of Romania, which might be her destination this summer, but R(ASA) is likely to have died, disappearing (with all data) in the Mediterranean (~ 11 June). I can not figure out another coherent explanation for her disappearance from an area where there is a good GSM coverage. If after feeding in the Nile delta (which was already unusual - and the wrong place was) she went on the road and decided to fly across the sea without doing it, then it was possible that the above sea area could not exist until she was alive and unable to cross, under the water transmitter with everything It is, and is gone. At Mara, sometime in the end of July, you should go to download her data. Hope I can pull it (financially).
I have a request to involve interested people in collecting money for two important "measures" - the analysis of (1) dead birds in a single socket (where this is happening for the third consecutive year, so there might be an external reason) - the required amount is 592.58 The euro (a section and chemical analysis of organometallic compounds (DDT +), heavy metals (mercury and lead), and the amount of glyphosate (Roundapa) in dead birds. Genetic analysis and possibly radiation testing (strontium) should also be made, but this Might be too expensive.
The second thing that will also need funds is the analysis of egg contamination collected over the last three years (a sample of about 30 - yet I do not know how much it will be this year) and they should also do the same set of analyzes - I do not know the exact amount, because "the bulk is cheaper "But according to the representatives of BIOR, one sample analysis for glyphosate costs about 100 Euro ... - we just do not have to pay for it to suck on the head ..., so the total amount required is a large hundred (if not thousands). Abroad, the same analysis would cost even more (about twice), as there is no reason to complain about a high price. The lack of money is why the vanquarters of the last two years are still "blowing" in my refrigerator. But this request is secondary because even this year analyzes may not be carried out (and continue to blow), but the first point is important because the birds have already been analyzed and the bill has been written out. Some money is available to LOB, but almost certainly not enough.
The donation account is a LOB account with an indication to the black storekeeper. All details are on the LOB website and they can also be found in the gore. Thanks in advance!
By the way, the third kid from his nest is alive and was taken to the Zoo. Since I have not received bad news about its loss, I think everything is okay, but the Zoopark is not fresh fresh water fish again. This is also a way to help at least one particular bird.

yes, it's true - we can hope, that our storklets somewhere fly, feed and live their bird's life - only the transmitter is bad ... that happend this year with very know WS "Picur" from HU, stork is back in HU after 3 years ... but it was warst-and-all that the transmitter worked not reliably - https://s24.postimg.org/fpz9aarqd/Putovanie.jpg

yes, we know data from this day: viewtopic.php?p=535404#p535404 and viewtopic.php?p=535409#p535409

we can hope - M.S. wrote only "R(ASA) is likely to have died"
probably only the transmitter is broken-down, with time was problem 10.06. - 5 position, but the first 14:00, 14:05, 14:10, 14:15 and 15:30; usually 09:30, 11:00, 12:30, 14:00 and 15:30 ... and we had not all days data from her transmitter

It's dead. The reason was not starving! :faint:

I hope they find the reason and can do something to prevent it in the future. It's really terrible. I do not know how long lasts such an investigation? This is probably like an autopsy in humans?

Many thanks for all your work here.
