OK, no rabbit.

All went well. The tawny owl left the area in time. Namely 02:03. Pulled the carcass into the middle of the nest, was still busy with it but left the nest without its tough food.

No sign of the H's yet.

It seems to have been a tawny owl (Strix aluco), that's the first thing I thought when I saw the black eyes and the round head. Two years ago, about 3 km from home, I heard the angry goshawk and shortly after, sounds of tawny owls in broad daylight in winter. It is to be imagined that the goshawk in his camps met him and they had unfriendly words.
Although it is from forests, it can also be in cities or nearby. Goshawks and martens are also from forests and appear or are constantly. They are from where there is food.

If the snow persists, the laying may be delayed until it is removed.

'17, '19, '20 H21 calls energetically, urgently but melodically for H44.

'21 H44 is here and the couple has a lot to talk about. H44 enters the nest, his gestures and vocalizations seem to calm H21...the communication becomes quieter and softer.

Good evening!

If we only look at the camera sporadically, we might think that nothing is going on.
In fact, the day is filled with sounds from the couple!

Between 10:00 and 12:00 there are many calls from H21, the pair communicating together...and we see them fluttering between the trees.

And finally a sign of the woodpecker again ... its drumming was nice to hear.

On Sunday H21 was strong as always but H44 also showed a lot of strength.
Last season from the connection of the camera to the laying date not so many days passed and we were the same as this year with many doubts and without continuity. There were few early calls but in the last four days they did. We are going the same way.

This couple at the moment is like that and does not have that overwhelming regularity that Ruudi and Alla mark in Tartu.

Correct, these two pairs cannot be compared in terms of (nest) preparation for the breeding season.
Nevertheless, their broods work well.
If we get a glimpse of another successful season in both nests, it's worth watching the behavior of the Hawklets.
Sova (If you can still read along - many greetings to you! ) was a bit worried about the aggression between Alla and Ruudi's Hawklets. In fact these have been much more energetic than the H21 & H44 Hawklets. I never found the Mini-H's conspicuous...almost too well-behaved.

Although both nests were well fed and there was never any reason for rivalry or food envy.
