i also believe that both sexes develop brood patches, not only females.

another rare occasion was when we saw the preening gland. that has happened only once. all birds have that in the end of their backs. Robert once stood preening on the front rim of the nest with his back turned to us. then we saw how he took grease from his preening gland.
about Vērotāja's video? there Milda only shook her feathers. she did not lay the egg there.
those are the only voices and sounds that i found. i listened to all videos that i have till 21:36.Vērotāja wrote: Not all. Before that sound, I was heard bird movement sound.
Here's just the last sound
Liz01 wrote: March 17th, 2019, 2:25 pm Milda made no noise when she was laying her 2nd egg. We only saw that she pressed.
Her beak opened slightly .. but there was nothing to hear.
I think it's impossible to figure out when it was. We know it was in the dark. either before, or after midnight![]()
Here's a video of the second birth: viewtopic.php?p=636682#p636682ame wrote: March 17th, 2019, 2:32 pm i agree: we can't hear her doing it. even on the first time she only sighed a few times very softly. last year with the first egg she made some moaning voices. on the second time she was almost quite quiet.
