they both are loosing downy feathers from their stomach as their brood patches develop (incubation patches).
i found this picture of a bald eagle's brood patch. WTEs probably develop something similar. i also believe that both sexes develop brood patches, not only females.

Yes, I read about it. At of both sexes there is an intensive molt on a stomach.

i would be great if we got a similar picture as the above of their brood patches. i have never seen them.
13:27 Milda got up and shook her feathers.
then she seemed to count the eggs: "one. two. three."
then she rolled them.

Can at WTE not so?
Nordri suggested to consider an egg birthday on March 16,5 not to find out when it appeared.

guäääähh! Liz, the naked tit looks a bit scary!
i believe that WTE's have similar patches as the bald eagle. they just never shown their stomachs to us.
another rare occasion was when we saw the preening gland. that has happened only once. all birds have that in the end of their backs. Robert once stood preening on the front rim of the nest with his back turned to us. then we saw how he took grease from his preening gland.

Not all. Before that sound, I was heard bird movement sound.
Here's just the last sound
those are the only voices and sounds that i found. i listened to all videos that i have till 21:36.
19:41-43 Milda was moving in the nest. i made a video with increased brightness and contrast.
i think she rolled the eggs. she did not lay the egg here. it did not sound like it.
from the outside i heard: dogs were barking and tawny owls calling a lot at about 19:45 - 20:00. they have their wedding.

Milda made no noise when she was laying her 2nd egg. We only saw that she pressed.
Her beak opened slightly .. but there was nothing to hear.
I think it's impossible to figure out when it was. We know it was in the dark. either before, or after midnight

i agree: we can't hear her doing it. even on the first time she only sighed a few times very softly. last year with the first egg she made some moaning voices. on the second time she was almost quite quiet.

Here's a video of the second birth: viewtopic.php?p=636682#p636682
At 17:26:51 Milda got up. At 17:27:34, 17:27:54, 17:28:10, 17:29:35, 17:30:04,17:30:30 she changed a pose. Without rain and wind rustling of wings, at such movements are well heard.
At 17:28:33, 17:29:16,17:29:26 Milda opened a beak, for certain making sounds.
At 17:28:37 even through wind the sound is heard.
Tonight there was no rain. There were wind gusts, but was sometimes very silent. It is so much possible sounds in a row, it is quite possible to hear.

i think the black small dot was on the other egg. or on the other side of the egg which has the big grey spot.
should we name the egg with the small dot Meghan?
