I think this may be the fault of the camera. This year it is mounted a little higher. Light is falling differently. But that's just my guess.BigDee wrote:
The female (on the right) looks very different than female from last summer. The reason can be, that the plumage got bright in the strong African sun and it will take some time for her to get the color we saw last year.

Thank your for the links to the videos
I also get the impression that the female is brighter than that of 2016, but it can be the light. Without rings, this is more difficult. I am very happy that LSE`s are there again. Hopefully back everything as good as last year and only 1 egg with a gorgeous eagle child

The position of the camera is only slightly changed so I would say, it has nothing to do with color perception.bielikoholik wrote:I think this may be the fault of the camera. This year it is mounted a little higher. Light is falling differently. But that's just my guess.
But: It looks like this is a new camera, so it could have a different type of sensor and lens or/and slightly different contrast and color rendition settings. Additionally, the light in the spring is different than in the summer, since there is no much green on the trees and the light is more evenly spread in general. Anyway, last year it was easy for me to differentiate between male and female. This spring it isn't the case so far.

You may be right. The picture is clearer. Added microphone. Maybe they installed a new webcam.

Some news from university's site:
31.03.2017 - camera mounted. The nest was in bad state, so it had to be partially rebuild.
7.04.2017 - A LSE could be heard, probably the female.
14.04.2017 - Both LSEs could be seen for the first time in this season.

I look every day and go back on the camera, but I never see an eagle. Hopefully they have not found another nest.

Every day I hear lesser spotted eagles in the area. It's great that we have a sound this year :-)
Unfortunately, they do not appear in the nest, which needs to be repaired. Possibly they have built a new nest nearby.
Last year, the female began incubation on May 2. In my opinion there are still some chances for an egg here, but with each and every day getting smaller

bielikoholik, I watch the nest only few minutes per day, so I could not hear any LSEs.
My hope was, that is was bad April weather which prevented the birds from preparing our nest for breeding. But it seems, they just don't like this nest anymore. Since you say, LSEs could be heard every day, it is almost sure, they have another nest around.

Info on the camera page https://biologia.biol-chem.uwb.edu.pl/p ... krzykliwy/
Our eagle incubates in a new nest about 100 - 150 meters from the old nest. If in June egg(s) will hatch successfully and we will get permission from the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Białystok to transfer the camera during the breeding, we will launch the transmission from the new nest.

These are so good news and the little eagle is so pretty. Is there information about when it hatched, 1 egg or 2?
Has the eagled a ring? On the last picture from biker I saw a blue-silver ring.

So, while installing the camera young Lesser Spotted Eagle has been ringed. Thanks to this, the family of eagles will no longer be disturbed by people. I do not know exactly when he hatched, maybe he is younger than a Latvian chick for a week (my guess).Jujani wrote:These are so good news and the little eagle is so pretty. Mom brought a prey (it was something bigger than mouse) and fed eaglet. Nice crop!
BTW stream is very jerky this year
