ask another expert, or only a few clicks into a search engine and any disinformation by us members will be clarified.
Marfo wrote: April 14th, 2018, 12:01 pm Displacement behaviour is a well known and researched behaviour seen in many animals including humans. Very interesting subject if you have time to read about it.
:hi: Marfo, time is also short for me. (the older i get), but i am sure 100 % before i state anything anywhere.
one can not know all, so in doubt one have to research or to remain silent. a compromise in such cases is to describe his doubts and to state about his doubt. (like it here it happened (after a short think break). otherwise it looks like a try to give a real information.

there is nothing 100% sure. We are beings human and we are often wrong with our knowledge. For a long time we thought the earth is a disk.
There are many examples of these fallacies ... so let it be good

What I read and what I do not, I decide!

I have my youtube channel ... over 8000 youtuber expect videos from me ..
We have a lot of youtube chats ..
I work 8 hours a day
I have to care for my flat and animals
I'm doing neighborly help

and so on ...
I will not comment on the topic anymore.
Someone can open a discussion thread..

My remark wasn't especially directed to you. I am sure you research first and write later. I don't have time to read everything I like either. I meant that it is an interesting subject for anyone who is interested and has time to read about it.

@Liz01 Don't read anything in my post I didn't write. I am not telling anyone what to do.

Oh dear! And he was there a very long time, until he finally was chased away. I fear this will happen again. Wasn‘t it so in several nests we have watched the last years? Also in Ozols nest in 2014? Surely this was one of the storks from last year, and he still wants to have back his nest.
Maybe these things happen more often than we know by now.
I hope, there were no more fights needed.

The good news: the second egg is there! And the nest meanwhile looks very cosy. :D

Thank you very much, Liz, for all the pictures and reports! :2thumbsup:

Michi,you're welcome
it was in Ozols Nest 2015 and 2016! I also think that it will happen again. the whole season .. unless the other couple finds a tree for build a nest and to breed there. But it may be too late for them.

As far as I‘ve seen, the female left the nest at 13:07 after Kaupo arrived.
She returned at 14:53.
In the whole meantime Kaupo has not breed, for almost 2 hours. He always stands.
Weren‘t there also before interruptions in breeding, because of the strange stork? I wonder if that can be a harm for the eggs, especially for the first laid egg. The storks have breed it already a while. :puzzled:

@Liz01 Don't read anything in my post I didn't write. I am not telling anyone what to do.
@ Marfo: I had understood immediatley you at your first post  I did not relate it directly to myself and certainly not as a reproach to anyone , hope it doesn't bother you that i had to add my mustard to it. :whistling:

The discussion posts deviating from the topic black stork reports on the last 3 pages concern on the topic "displacement behavior of birds", which started here, and here arising disinformations.

17:53 Kaupo has digged the nest bowl quite a long time.

17:55 Finally he settled down on the eggs. But he wasn't content before he has checked his new builded nest. First on the right side ...

... then the left side. :D

When Gaja arrived, she brought a bunch of grass and soil. More soil than grass, I think. :D

19:57 An interesting and rare view while preening, - the feathers from the other side. I think, it's Kaupo.
Image

20:13 Both are still preening, no one is on the eggs. 8-)

20:58 Night is coming and they still don't breed. Is this going to be a problem?
Other storks have been also disturbed by strange storks, but they always took care of their eggs. :puzzled:
